exactly, they can't force you to empty it if you are not inside the arena, however you can either polish it off at the security area (not a good idea if it's a load of spirits) or just drop it back to the tent for a future attempt at sneaking it in.

    Always a good idea!

all the stuff about trying to go to someone of the opposite sex for the patdown is bullshit too, the girl nearly fisted me last year

They normally charge extra for that.

Are there any hidden gems in the lineup that should be checked out?

Natalie Prass was really good playing support to Ryan Adams earlier this year. Depends what you're into though obviously.

There was one woman last year was an absolute demon I felt fairly well violated after she got her hands on me. After that I stuck with the fellas found them much less likely to get too handsy

Yeah one thing I took from EP 13 is that it gets fecking baltic at night there.
I remember one year being completely bollock freezing during the night.
Swore wouldn't get caught out again.
So, better too much than too little!

Yeah I remember 2011 particularly, on Sunday night was in the Peace Pagoda at Body & Soul Village having a wee spliff and the slight breeze that came through it was enough to cut a hole in you, it was that cold.

If you want to get into it, you got to get out of it. (Hawkwind 1982)

Hi guys, does anyone know will ticketmaster scan a ticket to me to check it's valid ?

    Lads,

Am so forgetful (and plain stupid at times!) I was wondering could we do a bit of a check list for packing??

Up to my eyes for the next two weekends so am trying to get as organised as possible over the next few days. Am worried I'm leaving out something very obvious (or not so obvious maybe - the necessities deemed by the pros from experience ;))

Tent came today - I'm going to do a test run on pitching it tomorrow.
    I've 2 sleeping bags.
    A folding camping chair
    2 lED lanterns
    An air mattress
    Pump for the air mattress
Those charging cases for iPhone for back up batteries
    Wellies
    Clothes (doh!)
    Four bottles of antibacterial gel
    **** loads of baby wipes

    Can anyone add anything please?

You're making me a tad bit worried about the reasons....

You won't know the reasons until they occur

If you find yourself wiping your bum in the boot of the car, you know the Picnic had been a success

    Condoms
    Chewing gum

I feel like one of these is redundant....

Or at least will be with the bang off most people come sunday morning.

Actually, just thought of more that are actually useful
    - a lighter, you might not smoke, but plenty do at festivals, handy to have
    - water, i'll be bringing about 4 litres with me to have in tent
    - small hand/head torch
    - ear protection, i like being up front for gigs, have a couple of pairs of gig ear plugs (like a goon i didn't have them on during mogwai last year, that hurt and I was sat at the back of the electric arena, was it quiet there? was it fúck)
    - ear plugs to block out sound so that you get a good nights kip

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,286 ✭✭✭-=al=-

Ear plugs eye mask and ear muffs. Nothing is getting on the way of that precious few hours sleep! Tis like a sleep deprivation experiment otherwise

I say ditch the big roll, replace with baby wipes! It's a far superior and versatile, much more compact for carrying at all times! ;)

there are dedicated arse wipes which are far batter suited to the purpose.

just don't do what my da did on a recent trip to cuba

father - "yeah, i just used wipes the whole time, worked a treat they did, showers were hard to come by"
scruff - "Da, did they by any chance have andrex on the front"
father - "why yes, yes they did"
scruff - "they were for your arse you muppet!"

Something doesnt sit quite right about using a moist toilettte.

I've always brought those handy packs of pocket tissues (WITH NO MENTHOL).Less clunky than bog roll and wrapped in plastic to deal with the rain

Anyone know any good (affordable!) torches/lanterns to bring?

Was going to ask why no menthol then realised that it would leave you with a ring piece like a polo mint

3 weeks until we're well and truly in the middle of things and the main arena lineup still looks pretty light compared to the last couple of years, and that's with the scaled back Fridays. Is it possible that they've done away with the Rankin Woods Stage? Possibly in favour of the Despacio tent?

~78 acts so far announced for Main Stage, EA, Cosby (+ Rankin) and LBT. 2014 and 2013 were at 90+ at this stage.

Just a curious thing to note?

Edit: Now that I've just checked Golden Plec, I see that acts were announced just 10 days before the event last year like Krystal Klear, Jenny Lewis, PHOX, Raglans and All Tvvins, so there is still time... That still seems a bit late!
