Anybody see the Fat White Family ??

    Any good ?

Yeah. They absolutely rocked it imo. Lead singer is nuts. Wasn't jammed but a great set and the crowd were well into it.

I would consider ep15 to be the Platini of festivals. Good but not great. Had no bother at security any day even with a bag full of cans I was never searched. Ham Sandwich at the other voices stage was probably my highlight of the weekend. Other acts I enjoyed were
mmj, Grace Jones, rsag at salty dog(despite an attempted pickpocket), Parquet Courts, Ride, War on Drugs, Riptide Movement, Hot Chip, Metz. Girl Band, Sultans Of Ping and Frank and Walters.
Lows include the aforementioned pickpocket, another girl in our group also had a guy try to open her handbag at Blur. The overt branding really seemed different from past picnics and don't get me started on the cup return scheme. Just seemed like A hugh cash grab to me. I did'nt find the crowd all that younger from previous years.

Le Galaxie - Put The Chain On

We were saying "put the chain on" for the rest of the night after Le Galaxie. First time seeing them and thought they were great

Well, what can I say, after 9 picnics I'm impressed as I ever was despite the queues to get in through security upon arrival.I know 2 little back roads that put me in red car park in 20 minutes from j16 so not too bad. We tried camping with friends in wilde but ended up in joplin which was grand, well worth the extra 10minutes walk ew.
Missed the meet up and bbb. Got to salty dog at 6.20 so stayed there for a while before going in and catching daithi which was brilliant.
Security seemed fine to me, I offered them my bag everyone so they never bothered searching me.
B&S was as usual brilliant. Always enjoy the setting there.
I never really noticed the crowds apart from leaving underworld (****e, just like last time)and blur. People are always gonna moan about the crowds because a few years ago 26000 were attending due to ticket prices.Theres a lot of young people there because we are getting older. I was 19 or 20 when i first went to witness. Never seen an ounce of trouble, unlike previous years.
People complaining about pill heads? **** up, go to the rose of tralee as that's the only festival you will get without them.
Seen some great sets, hot chip and last 30mins of chvches were my highlight.
Seen nothing on sunday as I had my 3year old with me in preparation for next year.

Only negatives for me were 3+ penthouse, ridiculous. E lites area, family friendly my arse and price of drink.....not that I bought much. I'll still be back next year

Girl Band were a highlight. I heard they were playing in the salty dog on Sunday night, can you imagine!

Saw them soundcheck, then the set and saw them at Salty Dog on my way back to the tent by accident. They were supposed to be on at 11 so I thought I'd missed them. Nice surprise. They are quite something.

I haven't read the whole thread but has anybody complained about queuing for nearly 45 mins just to GET OUT OF THE BLOODY CAR PARK? We were in Car Park Z. Insanity.

Think it depends on the time you were up at, we were in the car at 8.45 and straight out

We arrived at the same time as last year when we just strolled in,2pm. Not sure what changed this year.

EDIT:Sorry...I've just realised you must have thought when we were leaving? I was talking about when we arrived on Friday.

Summed up perfectly, I had a good time but don't think I'd say it was my favourite out of the 6. Possibly because I just didn't get around to see enough. I didn't see any trouble, and got chatting to loads of nice people. I got pick pocketed at Salty Dog on Friday night, seems to have been a lot of it going on, so annoying, a very costly lesson for me.

Favs - Grace Jones, Riptide Movement, Fight Like Apes, Jape, and yum food from the Adare gang (pig on spit)

Went to Electric Arena for FKA Twigs, and I don;t know if it just were I was standing, but the sound was shocking and hurting my ears., had to leave after only a few songs.

The people who seemed to enjoy it the most that I spoke to were the ones who hit loads of tents, it's hard to get around when there is a gang of you. Need a better plan for next year!

Edited to ad - never found the queues to get into main arena that bad? Also, didn't get overly searched, the benefits of being a bit older :) If only they realised there was drink stashed in the boots! I think they are definitely primed to target certain demographics etc.

the only act whos sound seemed to have suited the EA was Belle & Sebastian, the other two acts I saw in there sounded shockin bad, but they were putting on such good shows that I couldn't leave

Caught the last few songs for Belle and Sebastian, sounded good! Was I far too f**ked or was there like 50 people on stage!?

Have missed 2 (2012, 2014) since 2008 and while the festival has lost some of its charm and soul it's still a great weekend. I'll only stop going when I have a bad experience. Once you're surrounded by good friends and good music then it's hard not to enjoy yourself. Obviously there are things that can ruin it but luckily we have never had that happen.

The price of everything is horrendous but I suppose that's what we get for having the cheaper tickets. Although I do think there could be a middle ground reached on the prices of things. I paid €17 for ice, a few plastic cups and 2 bottles of Fanta in the shop in Hendrix, luckily I was fairly well on at the time so that softened the blow.

I did think this year that there were too many people for a site that hasn't been made bigger with the capacity increases (I'm open to being corrected on that one). It did feel very uncomfortable in the arena at times on Saturday and Sunday but that's to be expected with 50,000 people milling around. Surely they could make the main arena bigger, especially if they are going to up the capacity again next year.

As far as the age profile goes there is a noticeable change in the age of the crowd but we all had to start somewhere (and I'm getting older).

The scumbagish element is definitely more notable but in fairness that's not down to all the younger crowd. There were plenty of the older crowd who were a***holes. My OH accidentally elbowed a guy in the arm on Friday night at the main stage and got a load of grief even after apologising profusely for 10 minutes before the d***head walked away.

Having been a regular Hendrix camper since 2008 (we camp in the same general area every year) this year was probably the worst year even though I thought Friday night was tame compared to other years. That opinion changed fairly sharpish on Saturday & Sunday. I'll be fancy camping it next year for some piece and quiet.

The searches were very excessive and even though I never had any incidents I saw some ridiculous things from the security searching people.

All these things are just me nitpicking and being overly critical. I'll still be buying my ticket on Friday because it was still a fun filled weekend with a lot more highs than lows. Future Islands, MS MR, Blur, Le Galaxie and Paul Kalkbrenner were fantastic. Thought Hot Chip were a bit disappointing but that's just me, have heard a lot of people saying the opposite.

Ah, didn't make it to see those, saw war on drugs and tame impala, popped into another act, cannot remember which one it was and it was brutal.

There were quite a few in fairness, the two girls that he pulled on stage to dance behind him early on must have had their weekends made during that set

I thought the sound for War On Drugs and especially Tame Impala was fantastic. It must depend on where you stand,or in my case for Tame Impala, lie down.

When I consider that I paid just over 170 for my ticket for an epic weekend of great music, it's really hard to find a reason not to buy a ticket for next year even considering the negatives like the over crowding, awkward security and the increased number of scobes. I'll be getting one on the instalment plan as soon as they are available.

They were my biggest disappointment music-wise, but that's just because their music isn't for me, not that they were bad.

I really enjoyed Hot Chip while I was at them but I kinda forgot I had even seen them as the weekend went on, they did seem a small bit flat/slightly unenthusiastic during the set.

As for the tight security, I threw a couple of tablets I take for my stomach into the inner small pocket in my jeans (I always put them there) and didn't even think of them, going through security one guy searched the pocket and just ****ed them in the bin and let me through. Could easily have made a bigger deal out of it as they did look like e/acid tablets so I was a bit relieved to say the least.

Thanks for posting, I was right at the barrier, slightly off centre for Hopkins and enjoyed it immensely.
His sets are so so intense, you get sucked in and taken on a roller coaster journey, he has some of the most wicked sinister sounding synths, pure evil!!!
Yea the puppet show was annoying alright, I said it to the security guards at the front, one guy went off to I presume the back where the projector was and didn't come back!!

Btw, how full was the tent for Hopkins? Couldn't really see from the barrier!

Exactly. There was definitely a bit more of a dodgy crowd, it was definitely the busiest it's ever been and there were some other small issues such as the prices of food/beer, security being extremely thorough and the commercialism of some of the tents/stages, yet it was still an absolutely unbelievable weekend.

To the people who are saying they will no longer go, is it that you actually wouldn't enjoy it or is it just that you're unhappy with the way it is being ran the past few years? I honestly would find it hard to believe that anyone could have a bad time at it unless something bad happened such as getting robbed or something like that.

Yeah I do. EP was created by pillheads for pillheads. Unfortunately those days are over because the middle of the road dry ****es like yourself moved in en masse.

That's an interesting assertion you are making there. Created by pillheads? You do realise that's an accusation, as the creator/s of EP are readily identifiable and fairly well known.
I have no issue with 'pillheads' by the way, I used to be fond of them myself but I'd be careful about what you write here.

On another matter; sneering at people who are not into pills as being 'mainstream' or 'middle of the road' is juvenile to be honest.

Suicide Tuesday is almost over THE FEAR IS REAL :pac:

Awesome weekend friggin' loved it this year and had a great time. Eco campsite was great but they did have music going blaring at 7am for some reason which I could have done without! The walk to the arena was grand too

Weather was great too, lots of lols and roaming about. B&S was top notch too and Kinara Kitchen, oh baby! An Indian type place was awesome too and the pies

Future Islands easily my fav band, those dance moves in those jeans were soooo good.

Hot chip bored me a bit but the other usuals, Tame Ipala, Blur and Belle and Sabastian etc were great, Salty Dog had some decent stuff on too

Can't remember if it was the Rankins Wood or Crosby tent but one of them was absolutely crap sound wise. The crowds weren't too bad considering the extra capacity but defo felt the extra folks

Still need a few days to recover but once I do, I'll get the ticket for next year!

i had a great weekend as usual however

its not a family friendly festival anymore

its not the drugs there is no more or less there this year than any other year

we had our 2 boys with us usually they ****ing love it but they were a little intimidated by the huge crowd on sat (usually go home sunday morning but we had them collected sat night instead)

i also thought that there was an enormous amount of people on sat and sunday with feck all interest in most of the bands on simply waiting for George Ezra/Sam Smith and Florence for whats its worth I'm not slagging off those bands and i really enjoyed Florence

we will go again but ill seriously consider my 2 lads time there if they increase capacity again without increasing the site size

thought the trailer park was great this year Body & Soul is becoming a little tired ( that won't be a popular statement :D )

oh and the price of a pint deary ****ing me
