Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back a page or two to re-sync the thread and this will then show latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

App to Make Call when SMS Received

    Just wondering if anyone knows of an app that if a certain command is received would make a call to a number.

    My girlfriends apartment blocks gate requires her phone to ring the gate to open. I leave later than her most mornings and have to ring her first to get her to ring the gate.

    If I could send a text to her phone that would trigger that call it would save a lot of hassle.

    I don't know of any such app but wouldn't it be easier to get the management company to add your number to the numbers recognised by the gate?

    Of course but only 3 ppl per apartment allowed my mgt company which is her, flatmate and owner.

    I had a look and it's nearly possible with IFTTT. You can send a text and it'll then make a phone call...but it seems to only allow calling her phone. Might be worth browsing there to see if there's anything useful.

    I'd assume some sort of hack or jailbreak would be required for this. It would be a major security flaw if somebody could text me and my phone auto rings a particular number without me having to do anything.

    Had a jailbroken app called iCaughtu before that would set off an ear piercing alarm on the phone when texted a command and also send photo and location if the passcode was input wrong. There's an app of the same name in the app store but its not it.

    I'd presume if that could be done a call could be made but not sure if it'd be possible without the jailbreak
