Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Looking forward to this, but with some trepidation.

Hoping Quinn can put in a decent game and that we are solid at the back.

Can't see it being anything other than a close one

    Is that 4-2-3-1 then?

    No Hoolahan?

Apart from the hopeless Ward, it's a solid team.

    2-0 Ireland. Keane and Walters,

Quinn selection sticks out like a sore thumb there...would like to hear if there is something wrong with Hoolahan,Gibson or Myler for him to be selected

Have you seen him play for Hull lately? His form has been good imo, better than the 3 you mentioned. That warrants his selection if you ask me.

I think Quinn is a nice little creative player. Meyler is a heap of ****e imo

No major issues with the team. Disappointed with no Hoolahan and Ward is a worry at left back but that team should be good enough to get the job done.

No problem with Quinn in there.

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

Wes needed to start for me. Don't know where the goals are going to come from with that team.

Ward is also a terrible player and should be nowhere near an Ireland squad.

O'Shea and Wilson at the back are fine today but it's not a central defense I'd be confident about in tougher games. For the first time in years we've no top class centre back.

You need to create a chance in order to score a goal.

I'd rather have Hoolahan on from the start and have the game won, then bringing him on to salvage something.

I honestly thought he's done enough in the friendlies he's played to get a starting place.

Is this on RTE Player lads?

  • Registered Users Posts: 401 ✭✭Legion.

Not mad about the 451. I'd like to think we're better than Georgia, so I'd have liked to see Robbie and Walters or Long up top, with McGeady and Brady on the wings. I like the inclusion of Quinn, very handy with the ball and looks to play a passing game. How much longer are we going to see Glenn Whelan carted out?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,304 ✭✭✭✭ctrl-alt-delete

The Hoolahan debate dominating things again. Dunphy has his doubts whether McCarthy should be in the team ahead of Hoolahan?

RTE had McCarthy as the holding midfielder in their graphic, O'Neill confirming it will be Whelan.

I must admit I would rather see McCarthy play the holding role and have Hoolahan in for Whelan.

Anyways, the only thing I would be worried about is Keane getting isolated and dropping too deep in order to get himself involved.

What I don't understand is why Wilson is in CB instead of LB. Ward should be nowhere near the starting line-up. I don't think he should even be in the squad. The only reason he is, is because of the lack of options we have.

But Wilson has proved with stoke (and Ireland) that he is a decent LB. So why not move him out and put Keogh or Pearse alongside O'Shea? There is a big error waiting to happen with Ward and he offers very little going forward.

  • Registered Users Posts: 677 ✭✭✭vidor

Yeah, why isn't McCarthy more like Pirlo!

Agree with this. Was at the game on Wednesday night and even vs Oman, Ward just looked like a donkey. Poor first touch, crap ball distribution and an overall liability.

    From the hurling to this.

    Hoolahan isn't great imo
Ward is poor, but if I had to have a dodgy player at the back I'd rather it be a fullback than a center back

The team is fine, should get the result.

Playing like the home team! Something you don't normally see in a place like Georgia.

If Houghton shut up for the rest of the game.. I'd be pleased.

Coleman and Walters on this right side looked much better than their opposite men.

    It's Georgia.

You can only play what's in front of you. You should realise i'm talking about what the team is trying to do which is chalk and cheese with the recent past. For that they deserve our praise.
