Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Don't be ridiculous. It's impossible to say that from the movement on that ball..

    Hail Mary shot very unlucky.

However, why is Keane on if we are playing one up front? He can't play that role as he neither has pace or height.

  • Registered Users Posts: 671 ✭✭✭Benteke

Good strike but Given should be playing, Keepers positioning all over the place

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,722 ✭✭✭nice_guy80

    Wilson and Forde are useless

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,395 ✭✭✭✭Utopia Parkway

    Should have saved that

If he had Inspector Gadget arms maybe.

Said it earlier but as long as rubbish Ronnie or horrendous Houghton are the only things people have to complain about then waheyy we are doing great!

He was given plenty of time, but great strike.

Defenders stood off a bit, was it Ward who kinda looked like he gave up? But once it was hit there was no stopping it.

Not the keeper's fault anyway, but think he could have been closed down.

Insipid play at the back has handed momentum to a, frankly, sh1te Georgia team

    Culmination of 3/4 mistakes.
Quinn losing the ball up the pitch.
Wilson not holding up the man
O'Shea not putting in a challenge
Goalie assuming he'd never shoot from there

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,190 ✭✭✭✭IvySlayer

No-one would've saved it, but any decent defender would've made sure the shot never happened

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,247 ✭✭✭✭Guy:Incognito

Its a wonder we ever conceded any goals at all when Given was playing, sure he can save everything

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 31,949 ✭✭✭✭Mars Bar

Keeper hadn't a chance. Ward took a look over his shoulder rather than going out to get closer. The closing down was shocking.

Humans evolved from primates in the time he was given to score that goal.

What the heck was Ward playing at there, he basically let the Georgian player stroll around him and get a shot off.

I guess that's what you expect from a Championship reject.

Are people seriously laying responsibility for that goal on Forde?

Edit; actually they aren't so never mind.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,006 ✭✭✭edgecutter

Same old rubbish with Ireland. We score and then go into a shell and allow teams to go at us. Rinse and repeat.

    Absolutely incorrect

Ballina stephenites under 16s goalkeeper of the year PAUL CARR (1997) would have got a paw to that

Quinn looks like a cartoon of what an Irish person should look like.

LOI teams defend better than Ireland.

Nobody is saying Given would have saved it but he most certainly would have had better positioning sense and that gives keepers half a chance, Fordes positioning is always suspect

Defenders are always going to offer you that shot because its close to impossible to score from that angle. They are closing off the lanes for you to put the ball into which could create a reasonable to good chance.

    Whelan is soooooo slow

Both to move, think and pass

need to get Coleman involved more often

Bit of confirmation bias here imo. Goals like that are scored against great defenders as well as **** ones. You're generally happy to let people take pot shots all day. This one just happened to be a cracker. We'll win this.

I think we all know Carr would have got a paw to it. Really adds nothing to the debate on whether Forde should have

So, he wouldn't have saved it but would have been better positioned to watch it go in?

Forde isnt to blame for the goal.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,797 ✭✭✭✭Francie Barrett

It was nothing to do with Forde, ball was struck so well he was never getting to it.

Ward and Wilson were a shambles in defending the initial ball in though.
