    howdy all,

I'm going to be in Hong Kong for 4 days in November from the 14th till the 18th.

Havn't a clue what there is to see or do there!

I'm stopping there on a bit of a backpacking trip but havn't looked into what there is to do!

I'm 27, I like technology (big markets?), I like walks, I like big views, I like traditional culture, big foody, and I prefer cheap and cheerful to opulent and expensive.

I don't perticularly like theme parks or over-rated tourest trap places.

    so, Suggestions?!?!

    1. Technology - Wanchai Computer Centre (branded goods) or Apliu Street Flea Market (Cheap electical goods)
    2. Walks - Hong Kong Trail - Stage 1 (starts at The Peak)
    3. Big Views - See 2
    4. Traditional Culture - Visit Cheung Chau island (from Ferry pier 5 (35mins))
    5. Temple Street night market (cheap 'al fresco' food)

    The Peak
    The harbour at night
The markets (not many bargains to be had)
HK is expensive don't expect to find good value for money items. Ireland is much cheaper for a lot of stuff.

go to macau for a night. it's an old portuguese territory an hour away by ferry. very nice place, no hustle and bustle about it. huge casinos (more gambled there than in vegas) and if you have the guts, the highest bungy jump in the world. it's the best 15 seconds ever!

Time your crossing on the ferries from Kowloon to Hong Kong at the right time and you'll get the view of the skyline by night for a fraction of the cost of the official tours.

The Peak is ok but the trip on the funicular is better than actually being there.
I would just walk...everywhere. It is a magical place.
