Galvanised corrugated iron in food prep area?

    Just wondering if anyone knows if it's safe and complying with regulations to use galvanised corrugated iron sheets as a partition wall in a food prep area?

    I doubt it. How do you intend to seal all edges and mounting holes, its also a bare metal which may be prone to attack from food products containing acids.

    Hey fries with that! Thanks for replying!

    It's basically in a very small unit in a town market (a cabin). One half of the unit is used to display fully prepared cakes so no food prep and the other half is used for storing stuff and a small bit of food prep (slicing a few onions for burgers). The partition would be in the centre of the unit, consisting of the galvanised sheets attached to a wooden frame and not actually ever coming into contact with food, basically a free standing partition....

    Why would you not use flat sheet corrugated wouldnt seem right for the job Do you just have some?

    Purely for aesthetic reasons! Absolutely love the look of it and it goes with our whole brand, (it would be visible to customers).

    Try this website www.galvanizing.org.uk or give Galco Steel a call to find out how galvanising stands up to the chemicals and stuff in the prep area It is a layer of Zinc so might react or not be cleanable. You would need to prove it is OK as Health inspectors are not by nature adventurous.
