never stayed but know it. its not ideal if you don't have a car.

if you have transport those hilton suites are usually very good and 600 for 10 night is really good value given vegas are charging $20-30 a night now just for resort fees.

Good point about "resort fees" they may charge that too. Worth checking to make sure.

    Otherwise $600 is really good.

What are you going to do for ten days in Vegas? That's a loooong time.

Ive decided against the hilton now as ive read its in a sketchy area and a good walk from the strip.
Going to vegas to do sports betting and blackjack.

We stayed at Ballys in July and it was great. Its one of the older ones and there was renovation work going on so it was cheap but its in a great position in the heart of the strip and directly connected to Paris.
Still had to pay the damn "resort fees" though.

How much are the resort fees in Bally's? I'm looking to book a trip next April so checking flights and accommodation at the moment, I'm confusing myself at this stage.

Are you better to book flights and accommodation together or separately?

My better half just told me it was $24 a night. Crazy as we'd already bought the flights and hotel as a package and then suddenly you have extra to pay. Wifi is an extra too.

As regards booking, we live in Seattle so its only a short hop but we usually do some kind of package with the flights/hotel included.

    I think we used Expedia.com

Last time I was there I stayed in the MGM and the resort fee was $24 a night. For that you got access to the not so good WiFi and you could get a free copy on USA today in reception. I think most of the hotels charge it now and they don't include it in the price when booking. It gets added at the end of your stay.......it just a way to get an extra few $ out of the rooms.

The resort fees are an unavoidable evil in Vegas at this point unfortunately. They can be somewhat mitigated by using the $20 trick to get a room upgrade in most hotels (do not pay extra for strip views or high floors when booking as this can be taken care of by the trick).

If you are there to gamble and want a good, well located hotel I strongly recommend considering the Flamingo. In mhy opinion it has the best value for your buck in the city. The Flamingo is one of the oldest hotels in Vegas but its rooms have been renovated to a pretty high standard (you have to book the renovated 'Go' rooms as opposed to the old 'Fab' rooms). The Flamingo's advantages are that:

    (A) It's in the best location on the strip, right across the street from Caesar's and the Belaggio and next door to the Paris and all the other center strip casinos.
    (B) It is right on the strip. This is important. If you stay in the Bellagio it will take you a tedious 10 minute plus walk through their grounds and endless reception/front of house area to get to your room from the strip or to just enter the casino floor itself. The same is true with most of the other casinos (The Aria is particularly brutal for this). This gets old fast. The Flamingo is built like an old fashioned hotel, you walk in the door and in two minutes you're in your room or on the casino floor.
    (C) The Flamingo has just about the best Pool area on the strip. Maybe not as luxurious as some of the top end properties but beautifully landscaped (with real Flamingoes on the grounds). I love the retro design of this part of the hotel.

The disadvantage of the Flamingo is that its lobby and common areas including the casino itself are older and somewhat outdated. I actually like the lobby area, it has coffee shops and food courts that are bright and airy and look out over the gardens and pool, way less claustrophobic than most casinos, especially the modern Uber resorts. The entire hotel also has a pleasantly mid century vibe which I personally prefer to the design of the more modern resorts.

I go to Vegas a lot to play poker. The best deals I have found bar none for rooms are available on the site below. You have to register to get access to the deals but it's free. Strongly recommend checking it out:

Similar to Bally's too and within one block. Older, but renovated inside and right in the heart of the strip. Without the pretension of the bigger themed hotels but still connected to them.

I really like the Flamingo as well but for some reason I can't explain I am always drawn back to the MGM. Like the Flamingo you can get to the rooms in 2 minutes from the lobby without the long walk. It's right beside the NYNY and the Luxor as well. Most of the big hotels are great so it's down to personal taste. One thing I have found about the MGM is that the $20 trick does not work, I know a few people who have tried and failed. I have never tries it myself as I am not bothered by the room, just somewhere to sleep for me. I did get upgraded once for no reason to one of the suites and it was unreal. Biggest hottub ever!

MGM is prob my second favorite casino on the strip. Personally I prefer to be in the mid strip area than so far south but if you're a poker player it's hard to beat the parade of female eye candy that passes by in front of the poker room when the hotel's clubs start to wind down at 3AM.

I am a blackjack man myself and the tables in the mgm have been good to me on more than one occasion. I agree completely about the 3am club kick out, it can be fun to watch them try to balance on the skyscraper heels.
