I read it and make 80k a year. Does that make me stupid?

I knew a prostitute that made twice that amount a year, hell i knew labourers back in the day who made that for sweeping floors on construction sites and they were thick as the 2 short planks they carried around half the day. Salary does not relate to intelligence in any way shape.or form.

    Hi Guys!

    Sexist.
I'm not back long from an amazing road trip around the United States.
You really hate America that much, that you would travel across Mexico and Canada, thensail parts of the Pacific and Atlantic oceans, just to avoid going through the states? Seems odd, what did they ever do to you?
It was one of the best trips ever! Joe and I ..

Wow there, who the fcuk is Joe?
..both love food and we ate so much - especially Sprinkles cupcakes.

Eat your own damn food. Poor Sprinkles.
They are amazing. If you are ever in the States, I recommend going to a bakery, it's so good.

Hang on a second. So you did go to the fcuking States!
I gotta get back to the gym now though. I'm not looking forward to it at all.

Yeah right. All those mirrors, I'd say you're counting the minutes.
My friends Karena Graham (27) and Olivia Kenealy were in Spain for a few days, looking to get some sun and I got to hang out with them.

So, if they hadn't gone to Spain, you wouldn't have got to hang out with them?

Was there some kind of meet up where a condition of admittance was that everyone had to have recently being away on holidays? Seems harsh, in these economic times.
Yesterday, I drove from Gibraltar with the dogs to meet them.

WTF!? You're in Spain too! But..

You said you were not long "back".. I just presumed you meant back in Dublin.
We spent the day at a gorgeous beach and had sushi and gossiped. It was bliss.

    Oh "Had sushi" did ye.
Hope you all have a nice weekend and best of luck to the Boys In Green as they take on Georgia. Good luck boys!

Jaysus, fair play to you, letting the Irish tourists over there gang bang you.
Until next week, lots of love.
Sex is not love, Georgia, sex is not love.

How can any newspaper have better sports sections than another? All you need is, like, the score.

Ah, we need those player ratings as well, Julien Slow Quota. If I don't know whather Aidan McGeady got a 5 or a 6, how the **** am I supposed to cultivate an informed opinion on the game?

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

Well he'll certainly not learn anything about it by reading tabloids.

The standard is shocking and full of contradictions and poorly formed opinion.

Oliver Holt wrote last week Man Utd's signings of works class players was a sign of panic. A few weeks previous he said they need to start splashing out on world class talent.

He was called out on Twitter over and never even had the humility to respond or acknowledge this contradiction.

    They're all the same. Clueless.

Some other fool from the DM mused what would happen if Man Utd meet Monaco in the CL this season. United aren't even in the competition! It's shocking how a sports writer doesn't know this!

These days I just enjoy people picking holes in their 'work'.

What were you expecting when you sat down to read the article? I can imagine you sitting there having finished seething in anger that she hadn't addressed the possible resurgence of the tiger or the recent escalations in the Middle East, a single tear rolling down your face as it dawned upon you that you weren't in fact reading the Wall Street journal but instead were reading the column of a girl who didn't make it to journalism school on account of the fact she makes more than most journalists do by showing her tits without even exposing the nipple.

the tabloids to sell have to write that not which is true but what favors the opinion of the majority. They will always write in such a tone that sides with the buying public. People want vindication for their opinions and the tabloids endeavor to give them that. So if rival fans think man utds signing reek of desperation, the tabloids will print that knowing full well that rival fans will buy the paper.

The psychology of papers is profoundly interesting because a paper is a product and to sell it most appeal to the buyer. This is why blogs written in the spare time by lecturers or journalists are often better to read.

Generally, showbiz and sport aside, it's a decent gauge of intelligence and/or cop on. It's not absolute but it's not completely irrelevant either.

it depends how you define intelligence. Just because you are educated doesnt necessarily make you smart. There is a difference. In ireland now a lot of the younger population are getting educated. But few of them who leave college are smart and clued in with the world. The existential psychologist rollo may would often say the people are programmed to unconditionally conform and what he was trying to say is that people go off and get a degree and marry and think they are smart, when all they are doing is actually conforming with principles. as for me i dont put much emphasis on the IQ.

Having said that, a lot of business men are very smart. Michael o leary for instance is highly intelligent. He just knows how the world works and how to manipulate the public. A lot of people live on emotion as in they make decisions on it. The smartest of the smart dont do that. Their decisions are based on logic and rational.

I would concur with Nietzsche and is "overman" philosophy. For instance there was only one napoleon, yet thosuands of french men were prepared to die for him and that is how i would define the smart people of this world. Michael o leary is a napoleon/overman as is warren buffett or alex ferguson. The rest of us are the french soldiers who are prepared to die for ribbons.

(sorry i am rambling on but im watching the irish match as i write and they are terrible)

Correct, assuming that by 'model' you mean a passable d4 girl that is in some way connected to the Indo crowd. Actual proper international working Irish models, of which there are a few, go unheard of. Then again, they would probably talk about something other than brown thomas and krystle, and ruin the whole charade.

Holy fcuk, looks like Miss Salpa has now become part part of The Fappening, as I just heard some DJ on the radio say it was nice to an Irish man double penetrate Georgia

yea yea thats what i meant. for example erin o connor is a proper model. them ones in the sunday independent look like porn stars. Most of them wouldnt be let in the front gates of a proper modelling agency.

I wouldn't be prepared to die for either of those two (o'leary/ferguson) who whip cracking slave driving scumbag users and abusers of people (my opinion)…I'd probably do their bidding if I was working for them until i could go elsewhere or if I was forced into working with them I'd wait for an opportunity to stab them in the back.

Does that make me an overman?

I have a grudging respect for Buffet…..although if I met him I'd probably think he was a total A-hole too.

Definitely not willing to die for any of them. They are just skin bags like everyone else when you get right down to it.

i didnt mean die in a literal sense, more metaphorically. Michael o leary earns a fortune for ryan air while pilots and air hostesses earn a fraction. ferguson never even kicked a football for man utd and built the biggest club in the world.

if you are prepared to see through all the deceit and conformism in life you may be an overman. very often they had/have a cynical view point in how the functions. Ralph waldo emmerson, John maynard keynes etc Having said that just because you fall under the bullet points of an overman, doesnt mean you will succeed. You still have to work, have ability and a bit of luck.

Another poster questioned the lads on the apprentice who were saying they were smart because of the money they had. i agree with that view. Sean Quinn was the richest man in ireland and he wasnt very smart as it turned out

Even if she was a slut, and I don't think she is (not that it would necessarily be a bad thing, I happen to like them in fact) it would still be far far down the list of the reasons why Georgia Salpa should be bloody well ashamed of herself. Main one being the God awful articles she is responsible for.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,802 ✭✭✭beks101

In fairness this is exactly what you'd expect from Georgia Salpa. It's her brand all over - inane, totally out of touch and daft as a brush, albeit glamorous and fascinating to read in a 'this is how Irish celebs live' kinda way.

I'd be a lot more disturbed if I opened up the Guardian and saw an op ed from Salpa ranting about Israel or outlining the many which ways that ISIS threaten the western world.

In that way, it must be hard to be an Irish model. By proxy people automatically assume you are stupid, vapid and completely out of touch with the real world. I'm sure she can't be that dim, she's just playing into her brand as that's how she makes the big bucks.
