Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

It reads like an American take on Big Brother: lock up 15 Americans on a farm for a year, to see if they can form a Utopian society on their own. Considering that the contestants are a calculatedly diverse group of extremists - gun nuts vs pacifist stoners, preachers vs atheists, feminists vs "alpha males", and so on - I fully expect at least one fatality before the year is out.

I only heard about this because the on-screen presenter, Dan Piraro, is an established cartoonist whose work I admire. He was brought in by a friend to do some voiceovers. Then, as he says, his life got very weird.

Death has this much to be said for it:
You don’t have to get out of bed for it.
    Wherever you happen to be
    They bring it to you—free.

I like the concept, so will certainly give it a fair chance.

I just watched the first 10 minutes and it has potential. It's on a week delay. One person will leave every month and a new person will join, so hopefully that gives it momentum. There is a chance that it could get stale. God knows what Fox will do if it doesn't get ratings - will they keep it going until next August?

They may relegate it to Fridays or something if it tanks, but they'll probably see it out for the year - cheap as dirt to make I'd imagine...

Who would've guessed that the homeless ex-con would turn out to be the sanest and most reasonable of the lot of them...

Interested to see how it all progresses.

Yeah I liked it. Good mix of extreme characters - a devout pastor (REALLY devout), a drunk drunk, a hippy dippy chick, a polyamorous chick (who is said goodbye to her boyfriend, her other boyfriend and her girlfriend), and the hillbilliest hillbilly I've seen in a long time.

I thought it was a bit manipulative (and somewhat reckless) to put a pregnant woman in there.

That really is a Fox thing to do.

I enjoyed the first episode a good mix of Survivor and Big Brother and a touch of The Truman Show but I really can't see it getting ratings to last 52 weeks straight.

I watched the first 4 episodes now and I have to say it is quite enjoyable.

Sadly the homeless ex-con wasn't that sane really.
