    He only came 3rd in his class. Big bull for 16 months old though

    Ampertaine Mozart
    He's by Kype Orkney a 1998 bull, so not exactly new breeding.
    Would take a long time to make that kind of money back, even by selling straws.

    Ampertaine Commander has 900 progeny in Ireland and 729 in the UK and NI. His straws are now selling for £30 stg. That's only £49K. No guarantee that he would sell like Commander either.

    At a limousin premier heifer sale one day and obvious to all that the reserve champion was The best there. A bit of politics and good PR I think as she was from a very high profile herd and it was a case of giving the underdog a chance. That's the only reason I could think of.

    Maybe he is going to try fattening him. ;)

    Is it the cachet of having such a beast in your herd, make your breeding programme sound like the biggest player.

    Might chance him on 2 or 3 heifers that are out of the older bull. Not sure if it's a great idea though but won't know until I try.

    Great cow, weaned a 360kg bull last year with no meal, 930 straight off the cow. Could do with a few more like her!
