Old style gathering hay. Great to see it being done. Heard my own father talk about it many times.

Some outstanding tillage land up that way to be fair. Thought I recognised the windmills.

A few of the calves today. Started creeping them properly for the first time this year. Makes an awful difference.

    Lovely stock. Own stock bull?

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,531 ✭✭✭Limestone Cowboy

Those would be mostly march calves, I'd none in February, few April ones in it too. Out of the stock bull alright, golden heifer is out of a Charolais cow but think a neighbours charolais bull is the father.

So you use creep feeder or leader follower?

Creep feeder, I don't have any paddocks yet so leader follower not an option for me at the moment.

They are serious calves LC :). Are you planning on putting a paddock system in place?

It's in the plan anyway whenever it will done. Plenty of plans and hard to know where to start.

It's a huge investment. My father put in a paddock system around 2008/2009. It's a great job in fairness. Do as much of it as you can yourself. We saved thousands by doing all the work ourselves
