Yea, he's Feb so a touch young, will try him with a small second calver next month, noticed her in heat the other day but thought he wouldn't be fertile yet.
Am pleased with how he's turned out so far anyway!
nice calf for 10 mts,he’d be well able for a few cows in June

He'll prob have to go before then, depending on the sales dates! Just not really set up to keep a bull around unless we get a dry spring & can get cows & calves out early. Though he's happy out on his own!

We got our new bull too. February born. Don't plan about letting him with cows until July.
Also bought the first pure heifer in the farm. Brought both last week, so they're early Xmas presents. Heifer is June born.

Goldies jackpot bull calf born October. 3 star maternal, 4 star terminal. Out of a dancer cow.
AI’ed her just before Xmas, noticed a white slime from her today. Any reason to think she hasn’t held?

Not really calved on her own....no problem

White slime isn't a great sign. If she comes bulling at three weeks there might be some infection there.

No problem calving, had her in a bare field on hay and oats. Will keep an eye on her and scan at five weeks.

Hoping he will be a good one, he has navarin, dancer and sympa in the back breeding.

    Jackpots calving figures going up.

Just re reading and what I meant was clear slime not white so don’t think she has an infection.

Have the first calf born this year. Sired by Tweeddale Lookout. 2nd calf for the cow. Heifer born at 279days, should be abit over 40kgs.

    Nice calf & good gestation

A bit shorter than I expected from Charolais, but I don't complain. Usually all Charx calves we'd before had over 285, around 290days gestation.

It's hard to believe we are barely into the second week of January looking at those pics.

    Looks like chickweed

No it looks like chick weed but I think it's called mouses ear. Place is absolutely riddled with it. That field got burnt badly last year but is at the back of yard so it got 10k gallons of slurry over the year.
I know in a week or 2 in will be raining again and this is all a dream but the weather is beautiful. I just couldn't enjoy the heat last summer with the preesures/headache of the drought

Two pedigree popes Barclay Heifers, 6/7 weeks old roughly. Growing well. Looking forward to a few weeks of grass into them and seeing how they fill out.
