Funny enough the house is the priority!

Not farming but anyway. The new house in progress. The house is to the left. It's a 2 story and the bottom floor is in place. Not a bad old view we'll have :)

Are those pens at the back of the slats jdi? Tasty job and well kitted out. No need to apply for calving gates anyways on the FS scheme! :)

What's that yoke sticking out of the wall on the right? I'm so awkward it'd be the first thing l'd clock myself off if l walked in there!

There might be cubicles there yet Muckit! That thing sticking out is a bit of rebar in one is the shuttering holes. It's handy for hanging a red lamp or stomach bag off. You're right though, it's something to watch out for ;)

Was your lad lively? I'd my first LGL at the weekend too out of AAX cow. Small calf that she spat out. He was up and at her in 20 minutes - more like a LM than a CH!

give the cows a small amount of rolled oats for a month before calving, dopey lazy calves will be a thing of the past then

I had two last year landed both of them there biggish calves, anyway one of the cows was a good strong cow soi put him back on her. When her time came we had to section her the calf was so big the vet said he hadnt the space inside to turn around, when we got him out he about 80kg of a big snow white dead calf. It wasnt the size of him that did the damage it was the width of him he was a shock the vet said he was wider than most the weanlings in the mart

Have used allot of him here over the last few years. Had 4 fine big calfs off him in the last two weeks. 3 bulls 1 heifer. One hard pull and with a bull calf coming backwards and the others were handy enough. That particular calf was very time consuming, stomach tubing etc but with abit of TLC hes now gadding round the pen. He's going to make some animal.
You have to mind your cow diet and mineral wise with him or could end up with a behemoth with him. So abit hit and miss. I've some cracking weanlings off him and some only alright ones.
I suppose it's all relevant to the cow your putting him on. Very good on big framed limos.
