288 days so 4 days extra which is alright for a continental in my eyes

I always assumed it was to discourage flies and other annoying flying beasties, mainly as they usually get it around their eyes. But they also do it when they're moved to fresh gound too so maybe it's just cows being rowdy :D

Heard numerous suggestions before about them eating dirt for minerals or upset tummies before but have no idea how truthful they are. If you want them to stop it, just put crappy bedding/straw in the dug up spots and they'll leave them alone.

These 2 arrived today, bbx cow and a rocky stock bull. Both ladies were coming backwards, got the vet to pull them as not used to pulling twins coming backwards.:D

No idea Reggie, always pick out the same spot. Nature I suppose. Allot of springs underground where they do it could be got to do with that?

That turned out well, it's actually easier to pull twins that are coming backways since they're usually smaller than a single calf.

Very true, didn't even use the jack! I didn't want to chance it, all I could feel at the time was 2 legs and to be honest this was the first time I had this problem. Next time if there is one I might be braver;:D
