Anyone changed the bearings on a Novatec F172SB rear hub.. or for that matter anyone had water ingress issues on the same?

My non drive side bearing appears to be lumpy after only 6 months and there is tell tale rust seepage that suggests water has got into the bearing

Do I just use two 17mm cone spanners on items 2 and 20 and just unscrew the whole thing OR
Do I use a 17mm cone spanner on item 2 and a 5mm allen key on the same end of the axel and unscrew to open up just the non-drive side.

I tried the latter last night and found it so f*kin' tight that it would not loosen up so I wondered if the axle ends have a standard right hand or left hand thread?
