    Hi, just wondering when your trying for a job and people say you have to keep ringing the employer,what do you say on the phone?

    Sorry, dont know what you mean by keep ringing the employer? why not go in and hand in you cv .

    No one says that.

    On the other hand, if you apply for a job and haven't heard back it's no harm to ring the employer and ask for confirmation of whether they have received your cv. Some employers get annoyed (who cares really, it's not like you work for them), but others think it shows initiative and will discuss the role with you (or at least tell you they received your cv and will be in touch in due course).

    Just kidding, obviously, I agree with you. I will add the following: it's important you ring the correct person. The receptionist might be trained to reject all speculative calls, so if you do get through to the receptionist you can say it's about a recent job application that you need to follow up on.
