Looking for a restaurant recommendation for dinner for 2. It is to mark an occasion but don't want it to break the bank as we ain't that rich. Maybe €50 max for the two of us? Dublin 1/2 preferrably and one of us is kind of a fussy eater so nothing too exotic either. Thanks.

You can't go wrong with Mexico to Rome in Temple Bar.

Your budget will go a lot further if you go for lunch or early bird. If French is ok, Chez Max (beside Dublin Castle) or La Cave (just off Grafton St), both in Dublin 2, are very good for lunch options.

If it's just 50 euro (25 each), availing of early birds will multiply the options you can avail of.

I recently went to Hugo's in Merrion Row off Stephens Green and had a delicious 2 course early bird meal for 21.50 (no compromise on service and choice). Highly recommended. There were a few mainstream type dishes (beef and chicken with interesting twists) as well as some more adventurous choices (herring etc)

Thanks all. Early bird somewhere will probably be the best option! Although I wouldn't mind going a bit over 50 for a nice place. Don't really need starters and desserts either, just a nice meal and a bottle of wine :)
I'll look into all these places anyway, they look great

Le bon crubeen on Talbot st
    Blackboard bistro on Clare st
The pigs ear on Nassau st
All do early birds around 25 euro a head.
