Huge tree in rented social housing accommodation

Hi, I'm looking for some information. I rent a property in a social housing house. When I moved in there was a huge evergreen tree planned out the back. The tree has become hugely overgrown and I can't maintain it. The neighbours are complaining and I've asked the housing association if they can help in getting it removed…
