    Hi,

Basically I've been having lower back trouble but the large amount of my pain is in my right leg, not my back. Every physio I go to seems to presume its all coming from my back but to be honest the pain is in my leg, a constant dull achy pain. I haven't played gaa now for over a year and Im afraid i never will again.

Ive been to every specialist under the sun, ive had scans and my spine is perfect. Ive also had 3 injections in my back. They helped but only marginally, if at all.

No one seems to have a diagnosis of any sort for me and Ive been doing core exercises every day for almost 9 months to little or no avail.

Just wondering if anyone ever had a similar dilemma and could possibly provide any recommendations. Anything at all would be appreciated.

Ah jeez man I am sorry to hear of this.

    Welcome to boards.ie btw!
Have met many people with on-going back pain and cannot find a solution so I put myself down as one of the lucky ones in that my spinal scans revealed the pars defect over a year ago - so we know what we're dealing with. Have repeat scans booked in for next-week to see the difference in the past year.

What recommendations has your GP made? Physio or Acupuncture perhaps?

With my pain, it was my left leg that would get pins n needles and also go numb when I would not have been doing anything to aggravate the pain. I was thrown off my bike and my left-side had the impact with the car before I bounced off the ground. Helmet was cracked, but saved my head, but result was this pars defect in lower spine.
Real lucky as could've been worse.

How long ago did this commence for you?
    Thanks,

I went to a sports doctor who in turn sent me to a spinal specialist in the mater private. He authorized the injections and what not but after 3 he more or less said sorry pal I cant help ya any further.

Ive done endless physio and ive had dry needling, but they do little if anything at all.

This all started about 18months ago, I pulled my hamstring for the first time ever. Several recurring tears later, lead to back and leg pain. I had ongoing treatment and intermittent phases of playing but eventually I reached a stage where I wanted to address it properly so I could continue playing at a high level for the next 8-10 years.

So come the 1st january of this year i stopped playing, started physio once a week and had 3 injections. I dont even feel like Ive made that much progress.

That accident makes it sound like your lucky to be alive, fair play on that one. What was the procedure once they discovered the pars defect do ya mind me asking?

Have you been going to the same physio all the time?

It took me a few years to get to grips with my own leg pain issues. Went to many physios and did a lot of reading. Sister is having problems know and it is taking her time to figure it out also. Be persistent and do your research.

Ye more or less been with the same guys for the last 9 months. I guess maybe its time to freshen things up and see if someone else has a different perspective.

I as well have noticed a genetic element, its just im the only one in my family that ever really played a high level of sport so I dont have a great comparison in that sense.

    Any recommended books?
