    Hi.

I want to buy a Gerber Suspension multi-tool and a Victorinox Outrider knife (black). I can't find any seller that has stock and will ship to ROI.

    Any advice?

    Thanks,

    Mark

Here is the Gerber. You can check yourself to make sure that it will ship to Ireland, but most Amazon UK sellers do.

As regards the Victorinox, this does not seem to be available for sale in black on Amazon UK, and Victorinox UK doesn't seem to ship to Ireland.

    Ebay has it here. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Victorinox-Swiss-Army-Knife-111mm-Outrider-14-Function-Tools-Black-v090233-/321379649547?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4ad3b8480b

Maybe you can find it cheaper elsewhere online.

Alternatively, you could ring 53 Degrees North and ask them to order it in for you. I know that they do that for customers.

That Gerber looks very good for the price! I don't need another multitool, but....

    Thanks guys.

No Amazon seller I tried would post a Suspension to ROI. Since I posted this, I checked out some other potential candidates for my multi-tool, finally settling on a Leatherman Wave in the oh-so-sexy black oxide finish - €118 incl shipping ( http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0009JS2ZW/ref=pe_385721_51767431_TE_dp_1 ). That's probably double the price of the Suspension (incl shipping, if I ever found a seller who'd ship to ROI), but I guess I always knew that if I did get a Suspension (with its short questionable saw and inconveniently-straight main blade), I'd always be wondering about a Leatherman. It'll arrive this week.

FWIW, 53 Degrees North seem to only do Gerber's Bear Gryls stuff: the BG Ultimate Multi-Tool is apparently the Suspension with different side plates (€77 - http://www.53degreesnorth.ie/gerber-bear-grylls-ultimate-multi-tool-none.html ).

Wild Side Sports in Bandon ( http://wildsidesports.ie/ & https://www.facebook.com/WildSideSports ) got me a black Outrider - €50 incl shipping (I work in west Cork, so I imagine the shipping was cheap). Gotta give a shout out to the guys in Wild Side - very helpful and accommodating. I've bought a Berghaus pack, a Lowe Alpine pack, a Source water bladder, and now the Victorinox Outrider from them. Very pleasant experience every time, and prices at least as good as online, with free shipping (to ROI AFAIK) for orders over €50.

Since posting my OP, I realised two things:

    1. You can get replacement "scales" (side-plates) for most Victorinox knives ( http://www.swissbianco.com/products/sak/accessories.html - not sure on shipping costs from US, or if these scales are available from Irish/UK/EU distributor), so you could in theory get a SAK you like and retro-fit the colour scales you like.

    2. I like the idea of having a pliers, so I might go for a Hercules at some point in the future, and replace the red scales (the only version available to Ireland) with new black ones, or I might think about forking out over €100 on a black one incl shipping from Netherlands - https://www.prof-tools.nl/detail.asp?Lang=3&Prod=106659 - whichever would be cheaper...

    Thanks again guys,

    Mark
