Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Moreno should have been more greedy there

Jesus, that was a quick first half....

Markovich is a little too 'Bolo Zenden' for my liking.

You'd have to look very hard to find a worse half of football!

Countinho very rarely gets his game on very over rated

Villa playing a pressing game Sterling could be priceless off the bench when they tire which they will

    45 very disappointing minutes

    No shape, no energy

Dire. Markovic and coutinho have been really poor.
1 striker just does not work get lambert or borini on for markovic and sterling on for coutinho.

International hangover from Liverpool ( thats one excuse)

Villa have only conceded once this season, and that was an unlucky deflection.

But living on luck and desperation at times in this game. That deflection almost dropped in and how with all that time the Pool player had there at the end he let Baker back to do his trademarked despairing full stretch block...

That was some ****e football........BR needs to sort out whatever system LFC are supposed to be playing, at the moment its just not working....complete mess.

Bit of a letdown after the games earlier, dour as f*ck. Liverpool look completely out of sorts without the attacking outlets of Sterling and Sturridge, Markovich has offered nothing again.
Sterling on Hutton is screaming out, should have made that change already.

I think the big question from that half is why is Brendan Rodgers wearing a sock as a tie?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,477 ✭✭✭✭Knex*

Alright... Borini or Lambert on after Sterling?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,395 ✭✭✭✭Utopia Parkway

Actually think Balotelli has played fairly well. Held the ball up well. Just not getting enough bodies around him in support. A constant problem we have in a 433.

I'm not a great fan of "over-officiating" but had the PL an assistant at either end Senderos would be gone.

Ugh that was a probable tap in for Markovic there.

Villa defenders getting blocks in has saved them 2 goals.

    Defenders will do that alright.

Sterling will come on and as soon as he does I wouldn't be surprised if villa get fresh legs on in the form of Sanchez to mark him.

Villa always do one on us at Anfield. Leading and deservedly.

A lot of new faces in this Liverpool team. 6 in total and it shows. But I see enough to suggest Liverpool will score.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,109 ✭✭✭Patser

Sterling to come on, and then Grealish in battle of the 'next big thing' under 20s footballer...

Was going to stir things up and say under 20s English player

I saw two worse halves at the Etihad two weeks ago!

Too many cooks best way to describe that half. Too many players dropping off not enough running into space. Easy for the Villa midfield trio. Hell of alot more urgency needed. Full backs need to push on more too.

Once again Sakho shows how useless he is. The way he dealt with that long ball that lead to the corner was absolutely awful stuff.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,419 ✭✭✭Fescue

I think you have to give Villa credit. They are doing what Chelsea done to us last season. Closing off all angles for a pass and not leaving any space.

Allowing a team playing like that a goal is always going to make things difficult.

Skrtel comes straight back in for Sakho. Not good enough at this level.

Really dont agree, hes not offering enough movement in the middle and when hes gets the ball his passes and lay offs are poor. Having said that the formation isnt working..sterling and lambert on asap

While this is being described as a 4-2-3-1 (by myself included) its really 4-2-4 and that's never worked for Rodgers.

    No changes at half time.

  • Subscribers Posts: 32,855 ✭✭✭✭5starpool

No changes so far. We need more urgency and penetration, and there have been no signs we will get that with the current system and personnel.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,105 ✭✭✭mada999

not quick enough with the ball, its seems like every ball has to go through the Gerrard filter.... our two centre backs have developed the weak Agger disease.... need to start stretching villa

Coutinho couldn't buy a pass of any worth today.

The type of game where Phillippe Senderos might end up being man of the match.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,503 ✭✭✭✭martyos121

I really miss Glen Johnson. At least if we had him and didn't win the game, we'd have someone to blame.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,404 ✭✭✭✭Vicxas

Only person making an penetrating passes is Sakho....

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,629 ✭✭✭googled eyes

    Looking better

Coutinho and Markovic off for Lambert and Sterling hopefully.

Markovic has been pretty bad. Possibly the worst player on the pitch but there is alot of competition among the Liverpool side.

Think Coutinho has been worse to be honest. At least Markovic was involved. Countinho has just been anonymous.

Lallana off?! This is some kind of sick joke, Markovic was rubbish!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,293 ✭✭✭✭rob316

Lallana? One of our better players today.

Lallana 23m off, Sterling 500k on.

coutinho far worse than markowicz. at least he is trying a few things, coutinho has been cowardly.

Alan Hutton is the most disgusting footballer since Roy Keane.
