Should drain off from now till Sunday etc...Weather reports say some more rain tonite and maybe the odd shower on Saturday/Sunday...
The course will be modified to take into account of any particularly bad patches of ground....

    Modified to go through them?

Nothing stopping you signing up for the next race, or is there?

Of course it's not my business what is stopping you, but on the off-chance that it is lack of practice, then I wouldn't let that stop you. I turned up to my first one well wet behind the ears. I was rubbish, but I loved it. Still rubbish, still love it :)

In all honesty, I think it's simple lack of planning and maybe a little tired of competition, add a little domestic and financial upheaval and my heart's not really in it. Big dinner Saturday night and I wouldn't be able for Sunday anyway so I'm thinking I might just plan better for future races.

Planning? No thanks, not in cyclocross season. Wake up, try shift hangover with coffee, race. I love winter...

Next Sunday 23rd there's a race in Belfast. Might even have room if you want a lift...

Anyone with space in a car heading to it from/through the city centre?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 811 ✭✭✭EB_2013

Any idea if St Annes Park might be the venue for the December race?

I see they will be running a Christmas market there from next weekend onwards so might be rougher to run.

Phoenix pk looks like a gianormous puddle today. I was following somebody else's tracks through the woods and it led me into some axle deep mud pits. Who was training there today and got me into this ?!

Anyway if the tomorrow's course looks even remotely like this there will be some dirty, dirty fun :-D

I was there yesterday evening, saw another crosser out training. Rivers were running down the hills.

Sure there will be plenty of fun to be had tomorrow.

Tired after today. My new training regime of no training doesn't seem to be working too well.

That was a hoot. Really enjoyed it. You don't get enough time to think about the pain. Great course design and plenty of mud. I think I took a few kilos home with me. Had a good battle with Lennymc and Alek, constantly swapping places. I've no idea how I did but who cares when you have that much fun.

Great race, well great course, poor performance by me though!

I think that was Raam who came past me a few times in the Swords gear on a bluey colour bike and carbon tubs?

Yeah, the race went terrible for me. Not good enough through the off camber stuff. Totally nailed that tarmac bit though.

    Just finished cleaning bike !

Just finished my 3rd belgian triple. Cleaning bike by night is not the best idea, but I don't care now ;-)

Nice to meet you guys! Cornering in mud is my new hobby now.

Another brilliantly designed course and well organised. The Fixx coffees at the end are a great touch. I could have brought my mother along and she would have enjoyed it, you could see the racers in about 5 places from the pits area.
The park dried up really well considering all the rain during the week.
I was having a great battle with a couple of lads until I snapped the carbon seatpost on a flying remount. Eat less pies or get an aluminium seatpost I think. for some reason I was having visions of poor Fran from Love/Hate for a few minutes.
Big thanks to Alan Clogher who gave me his spare bike after I had ran around to the pits.

Ah now you've gone and given me a goo for a few beers.
Got the bike cleaned up,it took longer than the race itself.

    Another brilliantly designed course

Well, this tree on the descent just after boards was quite surprising on every single lap ;) True otherwise.
    I snapped the carbon seatpost

Wow. Good to see you're still among us ;-)
    get an aluminium seatpost

Just ask LennyMC about these - maybe you need a steel one? Maybe we all do? ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,017 ✭✭✭Tenzor07

Carbon Seatposts and CX racing mix like oil and water!

Have seen two snap in as many races...

I use one of these, thomson-elite-inline-seatpost Bullet proof! ;)

I wonder if 3kg of mud and a dead rat I've pulled from the rear derailleur has something to do with my results this time ;-) Much worse lap times than in Grange.

The amount of debris clogging my bike during the race was unbelievable. What is the general opinion on running Alfine 11 in cyclocross?
