Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

That's actually brilliant. I'm only disappointed they didn't stick with cliffy biro.

Edit - If this turns out to not be real please don't tell me. I'm happier not knowing.

Will you go away outta that??? Feckin' Cliff Richard-themed biros!! What next? A band name derived from Daniel O'Donnel-themed crayons??

Other crap band names include Little Green Cars and The Kooks. I also came across a death metal band once called Dying Fetus:eek:

    The Beatles

Such a great band, that very few people stop to consider how crappy their name was.

It's a dreadful pun that even a virgin, foreign-national entomologist would think twice about making in an AH thread about beetles.

Biffy Clyro is the worst band name of all time

I know they're not a band (since they don't play instruments) but LMFAO have a sh*t name and they're quite sh*t at the same time.

Cunning Stunt, quite often there was a faux pas with that one when being announced.

    Gonzo's Moonwomb

    Kiss My Poodles Donkey

    Rectal Spawn

    Machine Gun Felatio

    Toilet Duck

    The Chantoozies

    Lubricated Goat

    JJ72

Stupid name especially because they tried to keep the meaning as a mystery.

I think it has something to do with 72 jam jars but honestly, who calls a band after jam jars?

Even then name 'Jam Jars' would have been better than jj72

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,742 ✭✭✭MyPeopleDrankTheSoup

Oasis - loved them but sounds like a covers band who play in Canary Islands

Ryan Hemsworth - Not a band but with such a boring real name, you need to create a stage name

Chvrches - because I can never spell it right. And they're vastly overrated with one great song and rest filler.

    The Stunning is pretty rubbish.

Just sounds like a bad band full of tossers.

It's so funny how they try to style is as HamsandwicH these days. Sorry guys, you can't hide a shit band name.

I wonder if they did the H's in the style of the mettalica logo would it make it any better

    'Bullet For My Valentine'

Love their music - fast trashy style metal, but the name makes them sound like a bunch of weepy emo kids.

Biffy Clyro - Brutal name for a band. Aw man, how they came up with that name, it's pretty sad. It's an anagram of Cliffy Biro, which was an idea for a Cliff Richard themed pen thought up by one of the band members out of boredom.
It'd only be an anagram if you spelt biro as 'byro'.

Avenged Sevenfold. I've never heard their music but I met an obsessive fan from Singapore once. He was also stalking a teenage girl he met online too.
It was great sharing a hostel room with him, especially the morning when I woke up and found him staring at me as I slept.

The 'jam jars' thing was actually retro-fitted to cover up the utterly cringy real meaning of their name which arose from their love for their alma mater Belvedere College. JJ is from its most famous alumnus James Joyce and the 72 is in reference to 1972, the last time they had won the Leinster schools rugby cup.
