Sys section and search from main page

Is there any reason neither the Sys section nor the advanced search option are available from the main boards.ie page? To be quite honest, I don't even know how to access advanced search with the 'new' site interface. I always go back to the beta skin to find it.

Sys is under "boards.ie" in the menu. Advanced search is available by just clicking the magnifying glass (without entering a search phrase)
