Why do some companies delay releases in certain regions?

Apple appear to do this a lot, announce a product but state it will only be available in North America first, then perhaps UK, then France / Germany, etc.

For example, the iPhone 6 will be available in the UK on Sept 19th and in Ireland on Sept 26th. It's a short delay, but what logistical hurdles can be in place to cause this delay?

Certainly there may be intellectual property, localisation, support and distribution stuff to be worked out in different jurisdictions. So, I completely understand that there may be valid reasons, but I'm really curious to know...what companies do stagger their global roll out and what are their reasons for doing so?

    Anyone?

It could be to artificially have sales growth over a period, as opposed to just one big bang of it.

It's because of manufacturing ability versus demand, basically. At launch, their ability to produce them wont meet demand, so they stagger it.
