Listeners have been monitoring their water meters and they'll be talking about the REAL figures involved in paying
A former director at Positive Action has been in touch about the leaked internal HSE audit report.
Bogus roofers, have you had people calling to your door offering to do your roof?

And, if that isn't exciting enough, Derek will be talking to some gumshoe about the meaning of dreams.

I checked my water consumption for October this morning.

Went on the website and checked the allowances etc then. Averaged out the consumption over 12 months. Being charged for Water In only, my annual bill would be around €70.

(PS - I get my septic tank emptied out of my own pocket and forked out €1000 to get connected to the mains when I built my house).

Have to say glad they are actually giving real figures and have been monitoring it, should stop some of the government and IW spin. If a bill for 1k came in for water I'd f**king lose it.

Tuned in late, just caught this guy with his €800 figure for family of 4.

I worked out my metered consumption for Oct, family of 4 and allowances, comes in at €290 for the year. That's running a water softener also.

    These guys are talking bollocks.

Was reading a thread in Accom & Property over yesterday and a boardsie living in Belgium had a bill up and showed how it worked, seemed very well run.

I might be alone here but I think that this type of case study / use is more helpful than the usual moaners we have been subjected to over the last few weeks/months. By the way I have my own well and septic tank.

They are covering a full year, you might have months where you use more, eg Summer - drink more, might have 2 showers a day etc. might have guests to stay. I think its good getting the full years picture.

No baths since January? Ah well, a place to store the coal, at least.

These figures for consumption are just mad. They must be leaving taps running day and night!

Won't bring the charge from €290 to over €800, no way. We have a clothes wash on every day, one shower each per day.

€800 or so, he either has a leak or he's wasting water.

But the 2 adult children are in education. So he doesn't have to pay for their accommodation when they are in 3rd level, unlike a lot of people who send their kids to college.

    What's the saving then Joe?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,351 ✭✭✭✭Harry Angstrom

They could all use the same bathwater. That's a money saving tip right there.

Like one of the callers, I can't see the small digits of my meter. Must remember to bring a torch next time I try to look at it.

Just checked the usage over 36 days....for 4 adults ....in my house

works out at 236 ltrs per day.......

works out at 273 euro for the year after allowance of 30K.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,336 ✭✭✭Hamilcar

You're not paying for it already. The point is we have deficit of 7 billion a year. Water needs at least 600 million a year investment

So our current taxes don't even cover the day to day running of the country, never mind investing in the water infrastructure

That's not bad - €68.25 each per annum.

This discussion is all academic. Shure aren't Sinn Fein going to win the next election anyway and aren't they going to do away with water charges, property tax, bin charges etc etc.

    Problem solved.

Pay for the water already. All this is just a side point. Won't pay twice.

Yeah you are right. All those years the water system was ran and paid for by fresh air not our taxes.
