Chimney Issues

Just wondering if anyone could advise re a dodgy chimney. We share a chimney with the house next door but unfortunatly if we light a fire in our fireplace our neighbours house fills with smoke. Not sure what the problem is but as the houses are quite old I assume its a cracked chimney or a missing brick somewhere. I was considering installing a stove in our fireplace as our house is quite cold, but unsure if we could do this given the state of the chimney. Could we install a flexi flue to overcome the issue? House maintenance is not a strong point so if anyone could advise I would be very grateful.

You need to get someone to cctv survey your chimney to assess what is exactly the problem and if it's possible to fit a flexi liner.
Go to your local stove or fireplace shop and ask there
