Was on the grounds at 8 yesterday, went cross country, which was lucky as there was 2or 3 accidents on the route I should have been on, took an hour and a half to get out of the green car park yesterday evening, apparently another accident.
Any one at the party on the Macra stand after 6......you wouldn't want to be driving after it
Not near as busy passing our house today as Tuasday morning. interesting to see what the figures say for today.
heading down now, had to deliver lambs this morning
Left yesterday a 4 myself. Thinking I should be ok but the traffic was mental. The guards changed all the routes yesterday evening

We arrived just before 8 yesterday morning and left at 7pm. Took nearly an hour to get out of the green carpark. Legs walked off me.
Didn't buy a new tractor or wellies :)
Only thing I was impressed with was the timber carving of the grim reaper and the twenty odd foot agitator.
I thought the hereford stand was good compared to most of the other breed stands.

Just turned off for sradbally after Vicarstown, took 15 mins, how far away am I now? This isn't what I need, disaster of a morning, left late, and need to be home to milk at 6...

Just passed a field with bales of hay that have obviously been sitting there for a week or so. And I thought Laois farmers were good!

Cops telling me that it will be a disaster for the traffic plan in Tullow as it's a terrible spot for routes. Gonna miss it next year cos of it

Nothing can ever compare to the hell that was New Ross in 2012, Tullow is too far east and will be a nightmare and somewhere in Tipperary sandwiched between the M7 and M8 would be ideal.

Didn't go myself this year as was wrecked after Kerry in the All-Ireland and everything that went with it.

I wonder why don't the NPA just buy a large lot and have a permanent site for it sometime and build some actual infrastructure like the Hannover Showgrounds in Germany. They could have an event conference centre and maybe built it with convenient rail and road access.

One problem from attending this year, couldn't find the car when I returned to the car park, which was a large, fairly featureless field full of vehicles. Took me ages to locate it and there were loads like me.

Just home after pricing everything I wanted. Had a very enjoyable day. Very good and well organised this year had no problem getting in or out. Shook enda kennys hand and had a good laugh at the card players with 5 friends around them pretending not to know each other :D. Think I'll be going for the jourdain barriers as they looked good.

Great day, just home, stayed on site till 6:30. No delays in traffic straight out and home. Crowds weren't too bad today. Enjoyed the day

Anyone visit the ultimate cell stand snake oil salesmen

I was there today, thought it was a great day out lovely and dry underfoot ,great facilities car parks close by, loads of food on offer. Really encouraging to see such big crowds at it there is still some interest in the farming scene and it sends a great message of the importance of the industry

They had a fish tank with gold fish hooked up to the exhaust to prove low emissions but the car wasn't running :) I asked them how it worked for them when it is a well known scam on the internet, didn't get a straight answer though.

Yea Tullow will be fine for the south east but access for further afield will be terrible. Traffic from the west/midlands will have to come down the awful N80 through Portlaoise, Carlow to Tullow which isn't great at the best of times.

Said it before and I don't know why they can't split the stands all up into like "Village" areas; say have a Machinery Village, a Forestry Village, a Lifestyle and Shopping Village and so on. It would make it a lot more manageable and enjoyable as you could focus on what you might be interested in, rather than the aimless wandering I seem to end up doing amongst throngs of people going nowhere in particular

OH was speaking to one of the organisers and there is no decision yet. It could be October before it is confirmed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,777 ✭✭✭✭road_high

Heard Tullow months ago but the event is gone so big now that access is critical, even though the M9 would be a big help there. Look at New Ross a few years back so I can see it sticking around that Laois/Athy area.

I think it was going to be Tullow but thr crowds this year id say have forced a rethink

And crowds mean more Euros.......for the organisers and the stall holders.

The secret is to get a mental picture of your surroundings before leaving your car and of course car park colour and animal. If that doesn't work put a Hitler flag that would make it stand out :D I met a woman that didn't even know the colour of the car park she parked in, her friend had to drive her around to try and find it.

As we were heading in I asked a stranger did he know what car park we just came from, he said green. The ould fella then said it was yellow we came from. Poor fecker I'd say he was pissed off looking for his car.
