Hollowtech II/ English Thread to GXP compatibility

Been reading up on BBs and different types and am still confused as to what is compatible and what's not. Some Quarq GXP power meters on ebay which are tempting if the right price one comes along (aware of Stages and all that but I'm not interested in debating power meters in this thread).

So in short will a GXP bottom bracket fit an English thread? Or does the question not even make sense (are GXP BBs screwed into place?). Currently using a Dura Ace 9000 BB.

GPX BBs are screwed into the frame, same as Shimano's Hollowtech BBs. It's SRAM's BB system, for SRAM or GPX compatible cranksets. The cups are threaded and they are available in both english and italian threads. So a GPX BB with english thread would fit your frame. I think you can use the same tool for Shimano and GPX to remove and fit BBs.

english thread gxp (sram, truvativ) are available for about 20 quid, and as coastwatch says the shimano tool will work for the gxp bb.

So are the GXP BBs for a 24mm spindle or are they wider than Hollowtech II or how do they differ?

The GXP BB bearings are different sizes, 24mm on the drive side and 22mm on the non-drive side, so not compatible with shimano hollowtech cranksets.

That's the thickness, not the diameter?

Internal diameters. The crank spindle is 24mm dia on the drive side. The non-drive side end is 22mm dia at the splines and that fits in the ND side bearing.

    Thanks for clearing that up.
