Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Streering wheel bounces back when I go to full lock.

Strange thing happened in my 01 civic yesterday. I was pulling into an awkward parking spot and had to turn the steering wheel all the way to the left. When the wheel got all the way to the end, it suddenly rebounded back, almost out of my hands, as if it was propelled almost! The EPS light came on for a second then went away... then I tried to go all the way to the left again, just to test it out, and it bounced back again. I was turning it very gently so it wasn't me causing the rebounding.

Anybody experience something like this before?

I prescribe fire. Lots of fire. Your car is cursed.

Though on a serious note, you should get that looked at. Maybe plugging it in will show an error code.

I prefer to have an idea of what's wrong before I go to a garage. Thought somebody may have experienced the same issue here. Tis very strange.

I find a new Padre Pio sticker to be worth a try before resorting straight to fire.

Does a 01 civic have electric power steering? Would have assumed hydraulic.

Has it happened since? Have you tried full lock again? Both ways?

i reckon that's pretty normal. in my starlet the last 1/8 or so of the lock feels very resistant and if you turn it to full lock the wheel does try to bounce back a little. found it didn't happen so bad if the car was above idle rpm.

don't know why, but it never caused me any trouble, something to do with the workings of the hydraulics i'd say.

Some Civics gave EPS (Electric Power Steering) problems. It sounds like yours is trying to 'self-centre' itself .
It may only be software related or it may involve changing either a sensor or the EPS control unit (hopefully not).

That's exactly the problem I had. I remember the radio stuttering a bit too.
