Would love to see Markovic play with a little less fear...he looks terrified of ****ing up, so keeps taking the safe, simple option. To see him now you wouldn't know that he's lightning quick and skillful. Would love him to just start running at defenders.

Lallana looks a bit sharper tonight.

Never thought he was quick but Lambert is actually slower than I thought. Can't reach any ball unless it's straight to his feet.

We've been fairly desperate so far.

As has been discussed, he doesn't really fit our natural game if quick moving and interchanging..he's a battering ram. All our attackers usually tend to shift around getting involved in the building, whereas he tends to just stay up there. When we're putting on the pressure, he'll be great, but for the moment, he just looks like a square peg in a round hole.

Still reckon he'll get a chance or two in this game though, but I think a Sturridge/Borini type of player will lead to the team having more chances.

Yes, but Lucas has been here for a long time, and given the club his best years. The reason he's not so good anymore is because of injuries gathered giving everything on the field for liverpool.

Lucas is also the most senior player out there, and has also captained the club in the past. Given that none of our more established, experienced guys are there, Lucas seems like the choice by almost any metric. The other person i'd consider behind Lucas would be Enrique. Would have Lambert towards the bottom of the pile. On ability, obviously Sterling, but that's a bit more pressure than he needs I think.

If Lucas was given the armband, there'd be even more people moaning.
