Unplugging HDR1000s PVR every night

    Hi,

I bought a HDR1000S off you guys last year, and I would tend to power off all electronics at night rather than leave them in standby by pushing the on/off switch on the plug.

I'm aware that nothing will be recorded, but that's not an issue, and I would leave it on if I did intend to record something overnight.

I note that there is always a buzzing sound from the fan or HDD on the HDR when in standby mode, so I'm concerned that powering it off while it is in the middle of doing this might be damaging?

If required I can put the HDR1000S on a separate "always-on" plug.

    Any advice?

(I'd ask Humax but they don't respond to emails)

Any suggestions here? Would unplugging the PVR every night be a problem in the long run?

    Hi Cheez,

    Thanks for getting in touch.

Unplugging each night shouldn't be an issue.  I take it you're setting it to standby first?

    Hi Chris,

Yep. I was just a little worried that when it's in Standby the HDD is still being read on occasion as there is still the sound of an active motor whirring inside.

    Regards,
    Peter
