Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

We have an 03 polo with just about 70000 miles on it. Is it time to get the belt done and if so how much roughly will it set us back?

Timing belt should be every 4 years or 60k miles but mileage changes for diff car makes. So get it done! Ballpark figure would be 300 euro.

Depends on which engine OP your talking about. 1.2 litre has a chain, 1.4 litre has a belt afaik.

It's definitely not a 1.4, it's 1.2 at the most. Tax rate is 1100-1200 l engine. I'm absolutely clueless as you can tell :) car has been well serviced and in the family since New. What maintenance does a chain need?

Usually none, but it's important you find out what car you have so you can get an owner's manual for it. It will specs for maintenance and what to service when etc.

Ok great thanks. The manual is in the car as far as I know so will take a look later when himself is Home. It is serviced every year. Fingers crossed for no belt anyway :)

    Thanks a mill.

Have a look at the tax disc. It will tell you the cc of the engine. (Cubic capacity). 1200cc is 1.2 liter for example
