Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hopefully Coleman will be fit to start today and it's just as important that osman doesn't start, he's a complete liability.

    Anyway, COYB!!

    Sturridge didn't make it.
    Daniel Garb ‏@DanielGarb 2m
No Daniel Sturridge in the Liverpool squad for the derby. He hasn't arrived with the team at Anfield. Coutinho was with the group though.

Well the 4231 has been disastrous this season so I don't see how it will change today, happy to see suso on the bench all the same

More importantly Gerrard is not deep on his own.

Interestingly Sakho and Borini don't make the bench.

Can only hope it's actually Sterling up top beside Mario, with Markovic at the tip of the diamond. Raheem has played there before ie. Norwich last season.

    Both teams to lose.

    Moreno vs Hibbert, interesting.

I thought most people were in agreement that Gerrard on his own at the base of the diamond was the root of much of our problems. Don't understand why people want to persist with it.

Can only see an Everton win here today, our all out attack minded style of play will be badly exposed again

Stevie G to score first in a 4-4 goalfest - both teams cannot defend!

Not many think Gerrard at the base is any good really, but having Hendo beside him just means the latters running will be curtailed so we lose something going forward while gaining little in defence (well that's how I see it) Pity Allen is still crocked.

Henderson playing deep is a waste of his talents. And playing the diamond means we have two up top, we are always more of a threat playing that way. 4-2-3-1 has not looked good so far, not a threat going forward and we are still leaking goals.

I really don't see Gerrard as the lone defensive midfielder again this season. So one of Henderson or Allen will be alongside him. When Allen is fit, perhaps you would see Henderson, Sterling and Lallana as the 3 attacking midfielders.

Going on form and quality, should be a 3-1 win to Everton. Liverpool defence not good enough to keep out Lukaku and co.

Gerrard to get a penalty in the last minute to keep it respectable.

You appear not to know Everton have conceded the most goals in the Prem so far. 13

Ok I'll take that into account.

3-1 to Everton going on form and quality.

That stat was trotted out but its wrong - teams like Elche in Spain have been whacked by Real Madrid so conceded a few more.

1 penalty awarded to Everton in last 77 years of derbies at Anfield.

Liverpool have been at home for 100% of those derbies...

These games usually throw up a good match so hoping for more of the same. I'd like to see Everton win. Just for the craic in here!

And 7 to Liverpool in that timeframe at Anfield. I don't think going all the way back to the 1930's says much though, completely different teams now to even 15 years ago and the football has changed. I'd say Liverpool are more likely to get penalties these days than possibly at any time, given the direct running and speed of their players.

I predict Lallana to score first, Stones equalise, but o.g. to win it, 2-1 Liverpool!

Probably something to do with Liverpool being the dominant team in the majority of that period?

One up front for Liverpool doesn't work and Rodgers should know that by now.
See it work now and Balotelli to score a hattrick

Playing Sterling for 120 mins in league cup was a strange decision

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 763 ✭✭✭John Cherry

Last time Everton won a derby at Anfield was on the 27 of September 1999 0-1.

Gerrard and Liverpool keeper sent off that day.

Could a Everton victory be written in the stars for today.

I've been looking at some of the statistics from the games throughout the 70's and I think I've made my decision.

    It could go either way.
