Picked up 2 large fillets of hake in a fishmonger in the Liberties for €2, how can they afford to sell it so cheap? Is it down to oversupply or just that it's not that popular in a working class area? (Salmon isn't cheap at all)

It's in season. I use this website for keeping me up to date on what's in season now:

Why it was cheap, you'd have to ask the seller!

    -Special offer due to oversupply.
    -Loss leader.
    -End of shelf life approaching
    -Some minor fault
-previously frozen, clearing stock for new batch

I love hake myself. Delicious fish.
