    Hi
Can anyone recommend a decent spot for an early dinner (5-7ish) close to the Bord Gáis Theatre?

Preferably somewhere that does a pre-theatre or early bird menu on Saturday but not essential

    Thanks

I've had a few lovely pre-theatre meals here

There's also an Ely down there http://www.elywinebar.ie/restaurants/ely-gastropub

and at least one more restaurant across from the theatre whose name I can't remember.

    You won't go hungry!

Excellent, thanks. Think I'll try Herb Street.

Milano's is right beside the Theatre as well, if you fancy Pizza. Not sure if they do early birds/pre-theatre.

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

Thanks. I meant to put in my post anything bar Milano's :D

I do love pizza but seems whenever we go out anywhere we always end up straying into Italian territory - easy option, everyone likes Italian

    ¡arriba, arriba! ¡andale, andale!

How about Mourne Seafood? I haven't eaten in the one in Dublin, but the one in Belfast is excellent.

Just across the basin from the theatre.

Avoid, the service is sooo slow and inattentive. Definitely Herb Street for proximity or if you're OK with a short walk then the MV Cill Airne

The Marker Hotel do a really good early bird dinner. It is beside the theatre.

Mourne is great, Herb Street is great, Cafe H is great, The Marker is great, Ely is good, the Cill Arne is good but not great. Milanos is O.K but pales in comparison to everything else around. There's a couple of good spots over in the IFSC too, like Broadway Pizza which is a bit more casual and the Harbour Master which is great. There's also an Asian place in Mayor square that is really good, but I can't remember the name of it.

Thanks for all the replies. Have booked the Marker. Had planned to go there for a drink anyway but thought it would be too pricey for food - didn;t know they did a pre-theatre menu

Think you're thinking of Musashi - definitely worth a visit.

I'm not surprised no one mentioned Pizza E Porchetta since it is located under the DART bridge just barely within sight of the theatre. It used to be the location of the Bridge Bistro which closed down. Very friendly service and great pizzas and Italian food in a unique (under the bridge) setting.

AFAIK they don't do early birds. However they do always seem to have some kind of discount available from this site http://milanooffers.ie/ Couple of years ago me and a mate who lives in Temple Bar used to eat in Milanos near his place regulary enough on a Friday. When we were leaving their Temple Bar branch there would always be tourists and sometimes locals looking at the menu outside Milanos door. So we got into the habit of printing two vouchers, one for ourselves and another for whatever randomers we came across on our way out. Dublin is one expensive town for a tourist so they were always glad of being thrown a free voucher and it didn't cost us anything but the cost of the paper.
