I'm sure they'll get bored eventually and move onto the next cause-de-jour.

This... times a million. The cause-de-jour a few weeks ago was Israel-Palestine. Despite the fact that this conflict is still ongoing, notice how it has largely vanished from these muppets' collective psyche now. Not a peep about it have I seen in weeks.

Before that, it was the Local Property Tax. Again, that vanished from all the social media, etc. and we're still having to pay it.

How come these fools don't protest against the Universal Social Charge? A tax that has a far greater impact upon working people than the water charges will/do. I know people paying upwards of 800+ on USC... while the water charges will "only" come to about 300 at a push on average.

So... why not fight for something that would TRULY make an impact on people's lives, instead of this rubbish?

I think they were busy with Shell 2 Sea at the time. Or was it the M3 motorway works? Possibly the student registration fee.

Saw thousands of students marching today through town, Not a bad word out of any of them and great banter going on with the gardai, Maybe the anti water brigade could take a leaf out of their book and emulate their impeccable behavior instead of using dirty tactics to score silly little points.

Generally people paying the USC are too busy to protest. But definitely a very valid point, the USC is a far greater impact on peoples incomes.

Is that all you have to say on the video showing a member of the Gardai throwing someone into a ditch?

Are you saying that the students in that video are badly behaved? Because i don't think you actually watched it.

Of course the scum Gardai officer swinging him around had nothing to do with at all!

Probably more apt than a headline such as 'Gardaí attacks'

He didn't throw him into the ditch, you just see what you want to see.

If you ask me that Garda in question should be given a medal for that. There was a truck coming down the road and this chap was standing in the middle of the road, he could have been killed until the Garda intervened and removed him from harms way, thereby saving the life of this young chap.

He probably saw the original unedited footage, the footage that showed the Gardaí being pelted with missiles from the crowd.

The chants of "SHAME ON YOU" towards the Gardai seem familiar, Seems some of the students are all grown up now and continuing their protest life :D

You seem to ignore the Eirigí flags and red socialist flags in that video. 50% of the people in that video causing trouble weren't even students but crusty left agitators.

As I said earlier, I was at that protest (was a student at the time). Loads of socialist leaflets handed out at Parnell Square. Eirigi flags and red/black banners pushed their way to the front of the march before it even set off. This makes it clear they planned trouble as they wanted people to follow them to the DoF instead of past Kildare Street.

Of 40,000, a few hundred broke away and caused issue. The main trouble makers numbered between 40-50 and depended on a bunch of excited 18 year olds to back them up when they smashed into the DoF lobby.

The feeling the next day in college among the majority of students was that Eirigí et.al. had ruined what was otherwise a very successful demo.

The USI marches the following years had literally half the attendance because everyone knew it'd be the same dopes trying to stir up trouble from inside a big crowd again. These guys know that all they have to do is provoke gardaí enough (by storming a government department, for example) in order to provoke a response. Crowd mentality ensues. Mini riot breaks out.

As far as I can tell, it's pretty much the same groups organising Saturdays march. I wouldn't be surprised to see a similar tactic being used.

Get to front of march > Cause trouble > Provoke gardaí into crowd control against everyone > People further back think gardaí are attacking unnecessarily > chaos

I'd love to know how much these fcuktard protestors cost the hard-pressed taxpayers of this Country.

He probably saw the original unedited footage, the footage that showed the Gardaí being pelted with missiles from the crowd.

Not to mention the handful that were surrounded by 300+ protesters at the DoF before backup arrived. I think the POU was heavy handed with students and allowed the real trouble makers to escape - nevertheless it wasn't gardaí who started trouble, nor the students. It was Eirigi etc...
The chants of "SHAME ON YOU" towards the Gardai seem familiar, Seems some of the students are all grown up now and continuing their protest life :D

Of the 20 or so career protesters I recognize from the 2010 clusterfúck, (including the woman who pretends to be knocked out on the ground outside the DoF, but gets up and walks away fine in another piece of unedited footage) many of whom are still going strong with the IW protests. Whatever support Eirigi/Socialist movements could have garnered that day, it certainly backfired in the coming weeks as everyone pretty much agreed they had ruined the march.

I'm glad to hear that today's student protests went off okay. I think the lefties were too busy planning for Saturday to bother trying to whip students into a rent-a-mob again.

I also passed the students protesting today. I felt pity for them really. Such youthful naivety and obedience. They will be ignored.

Probably as much as the 30 mil spent on the fcuktard queen two years ago. But that was for a few days, so probably not as good value.
