I have become aware of a few sites offering a service to give you information on visitors to your website. Specifically (and the one I am most interested in) what company the visitor is from.

They seem to be offering a lot of what google analytics used to offer (RE keywords) and then some.

A few of them I have come across are...

    http://nurturewebleads.com/
    http://www.leadforensics.com/
    http://www.leadsexplorer.com/

I have signed up for the free trial with one or two of them and hope to get that setup.

In the meantime I was wondering if anyone here had any experience of using any of the services above or similar. I am particularly skeptical RE being able to identify the visiting company.

    What in - is out.

The Google query string contains some information: terms, browser, time of day etc. As to the who, we'll that's down to the IP address. I looked briefly at http://www.leadforensics.com/ and cant really see how they can capture much more than say analytics. As to the assertion:

With Lead Forensics you get complete access to who is visiting your site, what exactly they looked at while there and how to make contact with them.

No problem - but the bit "how to make contact with them" is a bit shaky.

I like an alternative to GA as it's great but sometimes doesn't give you the precision - eg I now that someone from ABC Co (Because of the Domain Name or Network Name) visited the site - what exactly that they do and in what steps. For that try Piwik - its good for scrutiny and is more of a log analyser than anything else.

Thanks Blue. I've been trialing 2 of them for the day and so far I am not impressed.
