Size matters in the last GOP pseudo-debates. I was wondering how low they would go, and this represents the all time low, with all the childish and cliché sexual innuendos that were supposed to be funny. The only thing funny is that anyone would take Trump or Rubio seriously as the next president of the US.

Hillary paid herself $250k from her own campaign funds.

Surely this has to be the last straw with this woman. No other candidate in the race has done something like this, not even a habitual liar like Trump
This reminds me of when Sarah Palin (Republican VP nominee 2008) spent $150,000 of donor monies for clothing and accessories, and of that $75,000 had been spent in 1-day at one Neiman Marcus luxury specialty department store that caters to the rich.

What I find funny is that Trump actually comes out better from Schlonggate.

Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana and Maine for the Republicans tomorrow, 3 easy wins for Trump I think. Kansas, Louisiana and Nebraska for the Dems, Bernie got one of them? Wondering is maybe Nebraska has so few Democrats that he might win it.

Oh well if Sarah Palin did it.

Im enjoying the more democratic nature of this US presidential election .
Democratic in the sense that the electorate has alternatives rather than candidates who toe the establishment line.

Having seen attempts by outsiders like Ron Paul and the Libertarian party , Ross Perot and Pat Buchanan on the Reform party ickets try unsuccessfully to make breakthoughs in the past, it is refreshing to see true alternatives Trump and Sanders on both tickets with a real chance of nomination.

Some people seem to think its funny or stupid that an American citizen votes for Trump.

I think its wonderful to see Americans exercising their right to vote for the candidate of their choosing.
I think its wonderful that record numbers are turning out and hopefully record numbers will turn out for the full election.
I think its wonderful to see that America and its citizens have real options on the ticket.

    Its not funny, its democracy.

I was reading an article on Politico, it says that trump is winning with voters who have an authoritarian streak - if you like children who respect, obey and do what they are told, you have an authoritarian manner, rather than wanting a child who is given more freedom.
It was found 49% of Republicans are authoritarian while that number is around half that are Democrat and independents.
A poll found Trump was favoured by people who are authoritarian, and he appeals to people who are not Republican but have the same trait.

I was looking at Twitter, and it is clear Hillary Clinton is not that well liked, I see tweets like 'I'm liberal, but I prefer Trump over Clinton whom I dislike a lot more'.
Hilary Clinton is not a popular person, Trump will destroy her as he will go for the jugular at every opportunity and remind people of her failed secretary of state stint.
A poll found that 52% of Americans feared a terrorist attack happening in the US in the next 12 months.
    This tells us two things:
The Obama/Democrat/Clinton era has failed to make Americans feel secure in their own country - this makes Clinton an open target for what happened under her reign as secretary of state.
It also tells us the message that Trump is promoting is a message that a lot of Americans are open to, and who can blame them after San Bernardino and what they saw happen in Paris.
The wall, the talk about banning Muslims from entering the US, yes some of it is extreme but he is giving an audience what they want to hear.
I have to say this though, it is refreshing to hear someone in US politics saying what the ordinary person thinks of Saudi Arabia and their links to terrorism.
Trump has a message, and so far it has being a winning one.
Clinton is getting the nod for the Democrats, but I don't see it being easy for her to win the White House. The secretary of state job has given enough material to make a nuclear bomb to destroy her campaign, she can't use it as if it was a success. I am sure there are plenty of Americans who see her call to want to bomb Syria to remove Assad as very deeply flawed and a recipe for the Libya outcome, which she had a hand in.
With terrorism being an issue, Clinton is a negative.
Then 17% of Democrats are strongly authoritarian, which are ripe for a switch to Trump.
After 8 years of an Obama presidency, I can't see anyone argue the world is now more secure than when Obama started his presidency.
The growing international security threats is another negative for Clinton.
There are plenty of reasons why Clinton loses this election, and why Trump wins.

The Tax Policy Centre has analysed Bernie Sanders's tax proposals:

Presidential candidate Bernie Sanders proposes significant increases in federal income, payroll, business, and estate taxes, and new excise taxes on financial transactions and carbon. New revenues would pay for universal health care, education, family leave, rebuilding the nation’s infrastructure, and more. TPC estimates the tax proposals would raise $15.3 trillion over the next decade. All income groups would pay some additional tax, but most would come from high-income households, particularly those with the very highest income. His proposals would raise taxes on work, saving, and investment, in some cases to rates well beyond recent historical experience in the US

Indeed..... but this would also be genuine news for a lot of the Irish electorate.

Well if he is to raise taxes that high Sanders has a long ways to go to beat Republican presidents Eisenhowers top tax rates in the low 90's in the 1950s'.

Trump has asked his supporters at a rally today to hold their right hands in the air and swear to vote for him in the florida primary. Now there are pictures of crowds of his supporters giving him a nazi salute. The guy is just trolling us now

But for some reason this seems to be lost on a hell of a lotof people this side of the world, and the GOP as well, but as I said before, they may be faking it.

Early results from Kansas show Cruz on almost 50% with Trump at 25%

Even earlier results from Maine show Cruz with 48% and Trump with 35% (only 1 precinct)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,474 ✭✭✭✭Akrasia

Kansas has been called for Cruz by AP. It looks like he's likely to get a majority.

    That's worrying for Trump.

It's possible that the Romney speech has convinced the voters to unite behind the strongest candidate in each state. If that happens, Trump is done for.

It's also worrying for me, because while Trump is an absolutely Awful choice for president, he is much less likely to win a GE than Cruz, and Cruz is also an absolutely awful choice for president.

I'd prefer Trump all day over Cruz.

Though, it is moot as Hilary will probably beat both when it comes down to it..
A tea-party president remains unlikely (imo at least)

Trump isn't a Nazi, Nazi's support Hitler. Trump supports himself.

Methinks that the sun is setting for the Tea Party faction of the Republican party. It was a craze for a segment of their party for several years, influencing Republican candidates for office in past elections, but I doubt they will be a significant factor for November 2016, and certainly not a segment that will have much influence on Trump, Cruz, or Rubio in today's GOP primary races.

Fox News thought that the Tea Party may rise in importance when nominating a president 2016, but I do not share their position.

I'd prefer Trump all day over Cruz.

I'm to the left myself, but loving those who think Trump is too radical and right wing cheering on Cruz, going to be in for a hell of a shock if he becomes president:D:D

I'd take Trump as well over Cruz also.

Rubio its unlikely you are reading this, but if so, just stop, you are wasting everyone's time and save yourself the humiliation of losing your home state.

Whenever you hear a man speak of his love for his country, it is a sign that he expects to be paid for it. ~H.L. Mencken

If ever a quote described Donald Trump.

Uh, no, not at all actually. He's already a Billionaire, it's the career politicians, the ones who have become wealthy while in office who deserve the buckets of sneering on this forum, frankly.

    Anyways: TRUMP 2016!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D:D:D

Very good night for Sanders. He lost in Louisiana, but that was always going to happen, in Kansas and Nebraska he had decisive victories, and he massively beat the polls.

The polls all had Hillary winning all 3 states, but it seems that Bernie tends to do best when people are most engaged with the election in the few days before the vote

Once again, Hilary does well with in the south, but she's losing support everywhere else.

Once again I'm wondering where are people coming up with the idea that Hillary is a lock in the GE.

    She is far from it.

do you remember back in 07/08, how ridiculous the birthers and the "obama is a socialist muslim" types seemed?

    that's you. that's what you're doing now.

    don't do that.

It's completely different. Trump advocates torture, he wants to ban Muslims from the coubtry, he wants to target the children of terrorists, he wants to build a massive wall along the border to keep immigrants out...

Trump isn't Hitler, but he is far too similar in his rhetoric for comfort

Here's a great video discrediting all the lies and slander the mainstream media has used against Trump:
