So what benefits do you think this watch will bring to improve an athletes training?

All i want in a watch is it to be waterproof,have a tri function, tell me hr,speed,cadence and have a wifi functionality that automatically uploads to Training peaks. I already have my garmin edge for the bike.
Is there cheaper garmin watches out there that will do all this?

either way, we get screwed by corporations, this time Garmin are clamping down with warranties.

An impressive piece of equipment, but is it worth the cash in comparsion to the 910XT. The 910Xt is available for 360eur (see link below) with HRM opposed to the 920XT is 540eur with HRM. 180eur is alot of cash.

Worth noting that I currently do not own a Garmin/Polar or similar sports watch and am looking to purcahse my first for next season.

Just looking at the new features of the 920XT I have attempted to put a value on what each is worth to me, admittedly I do not fully understand some and am new to the sport but would be interested it other's opinions.

the numbers you assigned, how did you arrive at them? connectiq = 0? they seem pretty arbitrary. what do you want from the watch?

Numbers are just based on what I am looking for from a watch and I did admit that I am no expert and only started researching last week!

Id put a significant value on the 12month Garmin warrenty!

no, that's fair enough, you're prioritising the right stuff in my books.

whether it's wprth it or not only you can answer. some of the stuff you ranked is only worth it if you like sifting through data afterwards. is that you?

Currently just useing Strava and find myself looking back over the small amount of data that I have,

Would be great also GLONASS technology measured distance accurately in open water, I understand this is one of the issue with the 910. But wont know this until someone reports back.

I'm just highlighting the things which I think you have definitely undervalued (IMO) or possibly missed the potential of.

Wifi connectivity - watch sync with Connect over wifi. Walk into house after session, no more 20min over ANT sessions by the PC. Your data is synced before you are done showering and sitting down with a coffee. Effortless.

Internet apps & fields - have a look at Suunto's Movescount.com to see the sort of stuff that is potentially out there. It allows other developers to come up with their own apps, and enables them to be shared. EG a field test for run or bike testing. Loads of potential there.

Activity Profiles - outside of the standard run, bike, swim, you can now tailor the sports profiles to suit you. Create your own (something I can do on Polar :rolleyes: ) for kayaking, trekking, hillwalking etc. You can set up the profile with bespoke GPS or HR recording rates and other settings. Very handy.

Otherwise, bang on the money with your assessment I think.

Like all my previous ones I picked them up in the states. The warranty lock down is a right stinger, well for the consumer, not the Irish shop owners!

If wiggle only had it now that would be sweet as have 17% member discount with them

All the Garmin watches I have owned.. I have never used the warranty. The US only warranty isn't putting me off that much tbh.

If I lived in the states I'd be all over this.

However 11 of my 12 garmins were bought online. the 12th was bricks and mortar.

The first 11 failed and had to be returned. Wiggle and CRC covered most of the postage. However still out the guts of 80-90 euro.

Now post back to the US, and get stung for customs. Even the slightest risk of this puts me off it.

I bought mine in B2R (wasn't going to put AKW through it) and paid a premium. What I paid for was firstly being able to select the serial number I wanted (important on the 910xt) and to be covered by Irish legislation "I done Garmin what Garmin say, I want this one repaired or a new one."My warranty doesn't get reduced to 30 days from receiving the replacement. Buy a garmin, something goes wrong a day later, garmin replace it, oh look your years warranty is now 30 days - if you go through garmin, go through the retailer and they just give you a new one.

Given the price difference between UK and IRL will be vat I believe no benefit to wiggle price wise either.

If it influences your decision I would be fairly sure the wiggle discount does not apply with Garmin Products
