It's quite likely to be Noel Gallagher, as far as I know he's announcing a new album Monday too

How in the name of anything can a band be banned from playing a show?!

They were due to play the point in 99/00 and it was cancelled, the rumor at the time was that they were banned from ever playing Ireland. Of course they've played here twice since, would love to see them again though.

Would it be foos to announce? Use it in build up to start of Sonic Highways?

Just seen Rock werchter is moved forward a week to accommodate a headliner, my guess is Foos if its true they doing Glastonbury/stadiums in UK then!

Graspop has moved aswell to the same weekend as Hellfest the weekend after Download also its their 20th anniversary, wouldn't be moving to accommodate Foos as they'd be more Wercher but certainly moving to Accommodate someone I imagine a classic rock act perhaps.

Wouldn't be surprised if Graspop moved cos Werchter was moving. No point having two festivals with some crossover appeal on same weekend in a small country.

Spandu ballet are announcing a tour on Monday so that's one of them at least

I like Noel and all but it'll be tremendously dull news if its his tour, good album and all but he has been floating by doing his thing for too long now.
The show isn't much of a spectacle, just a pleasant night out.

I reckon it'll be U2 for sure, I think I remember Bono saying on German radio, that all going well, they will be playing in Germany by May next year. The timing of the announcement sounds about right for that.

Dunno how I feel about the European leg coming first again, they will only be getting to terms with the new show for the first few dates.

id take a motley crue show in ireland please. wont happen but ya never know

I really hope u2 play the 3 arena next year and ACDC play Ireland (Croke Park would be good but the residents would have uproar so that leaves either Slane or Punchestown)

Hope they play Dublin but they could just play Belfast

Depending on the date of the slipknot show I hope to go it would be an amazing show

Specifies ireland isnt the UK, so assuming he means Dublin..

The pic was RT'd by Corey Taylor aswell. So ya, Slipknot are coming back!

Specifies Ireland isn't the UK, and on SLipknots site it says Dublin, United Kingdom.

    14th January for anyone interested.

Supposedly two other big gigs to be announced today, but think its for UK.

Apparently there's an "exciting announcement for Noel Gallagher fans" on the Louise Duffy show on Today FM this afternoon.

Irish gig date / new album release date?

UPDATE: Opening of the Louise Duffy show - "We have a big announcement and will have tickets to give away following the announcement".

Pretty big day for gig announcements . Happy with Slipknot and Noel G

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,565 ✭✭✭bennyl10

Coronas really picked a bad day to announce their show, completely overshadowed ..
Youd imagiine both slipknot and NG should sell quickly enough..
Same can't be said for them..

I have a feeling foo's will do slane, and rise against will support. Rise Against are supporting Foo fighters next Spring for a tour I think.

Rise Against aren't big enough here at all, they'd be ideal support for a gig at the point but Slane can't see it, might be on the bill if Foos headlined Slane but defo not as direct support.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,175 ✭✭✭StaticAge11

Rise Against would be fine on the undercard, but a bigger support would be needed for Slane

Can see Foo Fighters announcing a gig tomorrow as Dave Grohl is on 2fm and MCD were tweeting earlier about them and the new album

Foo's on Bbc Thursday with a 'Huge Announcement'.. Would make sense if Irish date announced tomorrow with Rick
    don't think that's correct.
the Zane Lowe page for Thursday doesn't mention Grohl, and neither Cee-Lo Green or James Blake are releasing anything this week.
