In most cases yes, Irish bank cards work with most European ATMs but there will be a fee.

    Lol.

I know years ago I could withdraw in Spain with a switch current a/c card.

Not sure if different currency makes a difference?

If it's any help, there's a silver thingy with a bird on it on the card? Does that mean anything?

I have a Visa Debit card from the PTSB. I can use it anywhere in the world, both for cash, and card purchases. And often do. :D

You already have your answer. Just check, before using an ATM, that it accepts VISA cards (most, if not all, do, and there is usually a small sticker on the ATM to tell you so).

The "silver thingy" is there to make it more difficult to forge cards.
