Water is not a human right, the water charges are constitutional.

Having water come out of the tap in your kitchen is a luxury.
It isn't a basic human right for a company or organization to pump water from a reservoir to your home free of charge. You, the people of Ireland, are privileged.
In the old days, prior to a centralized water network you would of had to go to the nearest lake or river to get your water. Or you would have to had built a well yourself, nobody else was gonna do it for you.

A lot of you are arguing that it rains a lot in Ireland and "Water should be free herp derp". Well my friends yes water itself may be free but do you ever consider the cost to actually construct a water network and lay down pipes? Maintenance? Wages for these workers? Filtration systems? Pump power consumption? If you dont like buying water from a 3rd party go look for a spring in your back yard and dig a well. If that's not an option go walk 5 miles a day to your nearest lake and bucket your water home. Then see how bad the water charges seem.

If this €10 a week is really breaking you, have 2 less pints on a Saturday night, go home and drink 2 glasses of water and you will wake up fresh as a daisy the next day! And then you wont have to brag to your friends how hungover you are too.

    Grow up folks.
