Arsène Wenger has revealed the following team news ahead of the Liverpool game:
    on the team news...

There’s a slight chance of Monreal being available and a very slight chance for Walcott. We hope that Oxlade-Chamberlain will be fit. We’ll see that on Saturday.

    on Theo Walcott…
He is back in training today [Thursday]. But only today. I might take him, I don’t know yet until he’s back to full training. Let’s see.

    on Oxlade-Chamberlain…
That’s what we’ll see on Saturday after a test. He’s not in training at the moment.

    on Ospina and Rosicky…
Ospina is back in full training and Rosicky should be back next week.

on Wilshere, Ozil, Koscielny, Ramsey and Arteta…
All out. They’re all progressing as planned.

Have to say We have done alright so far with almost half of the 1st 11 injured this season...some might have played a few games here n there but none of them got a sustained and as soon as they seem to be getting in the groove they get injured

What's new Nemeses? When's the last time we fielded our strongest 11 for say 5 games straight? I can't remember.

They did play together for a good part last season until Ramsey got injured :D

No idea if this is of any real issue for Arsenal given his total wealth but Usmanov is being devalued by the Roubles collapse

I THINK, I'm not exactly sure about this please anybody correct me if I'm wrong.

I think it doesn't effect us because he's not the majority shareholder. It means he just has to sell his shares and whoever buys em buys em.

But to a majority shareholder like Abrahmovic. As he is the majority shareholder, he can make the decision if he wishes to get rid of a load of players in order to refund his losses

He's lost a billion but still has 12/13billion.

No impact as Kroenke controls the club and the tanks have only interest in taking cash out so we were never reliant or benefited from Usmanov.

As we're not dependent on our wealthy share-holders for funds...this will have zero effect, infact if his losses get bigger he might sell his holdings to someone else...but from Arsenal's point of view no effect.

Articles like this are nonsense as big wealthy Russians are unlikely to have a lot of Russian currency. Any assets they have would be largely unaffected unless then were planning to liquidate sometime soon.

True they don't hold hard cash but it's the valuation of the Assets/shares they hold in Russian businesses whose value has gone down. The 13 billion he owns is not hard cash it's the value of the stakes he holds in various businesses... :D

United's performance and form has been discussed here to death in the last week..so i'm not going to bring that up again... there performances have been sh**e, they were lucky especially against us and SFC they got all the rub of the green and even against Liverpool they weren't great, if only Sterling had finished the chances.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,005 ✭✭✭byrneg28

Are we still in the title race??

    Opinions??

I don't think even the most optimistic of posters here could say we are... 4th maybe even 3rd but I think the gap in quality and in points is too much to bridge the gap with the top 2.

If you rule us out of the title race then you have to also say that Chelsea cannot be caught by anyone. If City or Utd can catch Chelsea then it's feasible that we can as well

Haven't been really impressed with Chambers in the CB position.
I'd have Debuchy there with Chambers or maybe even Bellerin on the right.
Debuchy showed more of a presence in the center last week. He commanded the box better.

To be honest 3rd and with a bit of rub of the green probably 2nd but don't think we'll win it.

How does that make any sense? City are already 10 points ahead of us, have a bigger squad more top quality players, they've been there and done that. None of ours have. The title race is between City and Chelsea.

Debuchy did well against a side that we dominated and they struggled to make chances, it's kind of jumping the gun to now think that he's a good CB and would work against the bigger and better teams.

For me Debuchy has to play RB and that leaves centre between Chambers and Mertesacker and I'd simply prefer Chambers there. He's only young and has a lot to learn but he will grow and improve. Mert seems to be doing the opposite.

Agree on Mert but I think Debuchy has much more experience than Chambers who i didn't like at CB anytime he played there. Debuchy is stronger and not as easily bullied.

Seriously??? City won the league with 86 points last season. Chelsea could well be in course for 93 points this season. If we win all our games, we can get a maximum of 92. We haven't a prayer!

    well there you go.

we could hardly even keep a lead for 6mins in most matches let alone come up with a 6 game winning streak

But you know what i mean. we are terrible this season.

We can only dream of winning our next 6 league matches

Fair enough jonney, but we’ve won our last two scoring 8, conceding 2, we’ve won 5 of our last 6 matches.

Balotelli suspended and out of the Arsenal game. He was rested yesterday as a precaution.

That's actually bad news imo, would fear Sterling up front which is where he is likely to start now.

Balotelli would have hurt our defense being honest! More so than Sterling as he's physically strong and has a great touch. Him being out is brilliant news!

Pace hurts our defence more and Balotelli hasn't scored a league goal all season...hardly a terrifying opponent right now.

Nullify Gerrard and Henderson passing to Sterling and he's out of the game! We've had three days rest this week too!

Jonny, you have massively high expectations of the team. I wonder if you'll ever be happy with the club or is your hatred for Wenger all consuming that nothing less than 38 league wins, the CL, the FA Cup and the league cup in one season will do.

You say we can only dream of 6 wins in a row. Yet we have won 5 out of 6 and the one we lost was incredibly unlucky IMO. Thats harsh. You'll only consider 10 wins in a row as the least we deserve. Get real man.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,516 ✭✭✭jonneymendoza

10 wins in a row would give us a slight chance to compete for the title mate and that is what everyone wants as progress.

for us to start competing with the best
