Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. Jenks on loan makes no sense at all, unless Wenger has given up on him with bellerin coming through.

Chambers is CB, full stop yes he can cover RB but 100% his future lies at CB, given Arsene the credit for knowing this and not just realising later.

Chambers has predominantly played midfield and RB in his career.
The jurys still out as to whether he can become a quality CB , youve been reading too many English tabloids. Id like to see him as an attacking RB, big, physical, skilfull, working hard , Ath Madrids style.
I think Wengers found himself in a position with too much cover in some areas and not enough in others, all of his own making .

Bob - you're talking S***e there, Yes BGF is slow and he can be caught against speedy wingers/strikers...but he has been immense along with Kos...he uses his loooong legs and height very well....Kos has good reading of game and speed...so both compliment each other...where as Verm was a sucker to the ball...

He had a good season with Kosc other than that he just costs us goals with his lazy half arsed attitude since returning from the WC and his lack of pace is a massive problem even for our style of play, we can't play a high line with him yet we continue to make that mistake (Chelsea).

Every player with a bit of pace says pfft I'll take him on, his weaknesses out weight his strengths and regardless of your personal preference he has been poison since the start of the season, particularly early on.

I don't think Chambers has ever played in midfield before, but played at CB for the England u19's at least.

Dont bull**** me with your read to many English tabloids shoite. I couldnt careless what has been written if anything at all.

I'm talking about what I have seen as a player he has all the attributes of a CB and for me thats were his future will lie. RB is a specialist area and whilst Chambers can cover there for me thats all he would be.

Of course the jury is still out on him, thats what I said but my opinion is that he is a natural CB

Why would we leave Kosc on the bench? Leave that statue Mert on the bench and play Kosc with Verm, Mert is a liability imo and is getting away with murder because Kosc keeps saving his ass. It's a pointless discussion to have really, you didn't think Verm was good enough i did. We have bigger issues now :(

That partnership didn't work. What's more, Verm wasn't happy anymore being backup in case one of Mert or Kos got ingjured, nor was he happy filling in as a right back. We didn't have time to wait and hope that one day a Verm/ Kos partnership would click. So we did what was best for both club and player.

In my opinion the biggest mistake was letting Jenkinson go. Had we not, we would of had acceptable lb backup and have Chambers as cb backup. Odds are if we can't get a backup cb /lb in January then Jenkinson will be recalled.

Chambers played RB and Midfield when developing in his early career at Southampton.
He played for England as a midfielder in the 2012 U17 European Championships and even got on the scoresheet. Who knows he might revert back to midfield someday, hes got the attributes

Wengers like a kid at xmas , he has too many toys to play with, doesnt know what todo with his old toys, and didnt ask Santa for the toys he really wanted, plus he played too much and broke some of the old ones.

I don't disagree with the first part, but it doesnt move me from the fact I believe he will be a CB. His body has grown and he has developed and to me plays with all the attributes of a CB, he'll be a great one at that.

He is the opposite of a kid at Xmas, my kids anyway they want everything and all of it what ever the cost. Wenger is like the sensible 10 year old boy in a middle income family who asks for one or two things but doesnt want to put his parents under pressure so keeps it sensible!

Broke some of the old ones ? Ozil had a full month off football after the World Cup, completely missing out on pre-season etc as well as the first 2 games of the season. We're barely into October, how could he have over played him?

Reports saying Koscielny released by France due to achilles problem. Just a precaution they say, for **** sake, this is a joke.

For me a DM has been a massive priority for a few seasons now.

Also to state your opinion as a fact just makes ya come across a bit of a knob.

Regardless of personnel the way I look at it now we could have the best starting eleven in the league and still not win it, tactics are our biggest issue yes we roll over lesser teams but in the majority of the big games we are the lesser team and a team that just gets brushed aside.

We have a serious bottling issue to we couldn't even bear the worst United side I've ever seen last year.

    Agree with you.

Don't mean to come across a a knob. Maybe everyone thinks the OP is correct and we sign **** all players every summer? Surprised that I'm the only one who had an issue with his comments. Lesson learnt I guess.

With Gibbs and Chambers likely to start for England tonight too and also play on Sunday, it could get worse :(

Say what ever you want about who we need/should of signing, is it too much to ask for a fully fit squad? its ridiculous, dreading this international break, bloody hate them.

I didn't agree with everything he said but he did have some valid points to.

Regards transfer policy I think ours is a mess yes Wenger is now signing a higher standard of player it's a start but I get the distinct feeling were not picking our weaknesses and targeting players to fix them and pushing teams to accept our bids we underbid.

Only players we have got have been players who there clubs are willing to sell.

At the tail end of last season everyone was pretty much in agreement we needed a DM and a CF .

We got no DM Carvalho was strongly linked and strongly reported we wouldn't meet his valuation push the selling club that bit more to sell same with Suarez.

And we got Welbeck somewhat addressing our CF issue but again that seems like an opportunistic and panic buy. We got him because he became surplus to requirements at United and Giroud got injured. Had Giroud not got injured he would of been our only CF and we were willing to risk that madness in much the same way we have left ourselves so short at the back.

At this rate Wenger could have signed every player we were linked with and we'd still have an injury crisis its unbelievable

He did and I didn't dispute those. Someone mentioned it but I actually don't disagree with the idea that Wenger is just securing 4th every year.

For me the more time goes by the less Wenger's great achievements look so great. The invincibles, the best team we're ever likely to see, had one domestic competitor and always came up short against Europe's best teams. We've another couple of them in our league now and it shows.

The one thing I will say about the OP is he's consistent. The ****e being posted here after the Chelsea game was rediculous. They're a great team in fantastic goalscoring form with the best home manager ever - the problem is that draws with Everton and Leicester leaves us 9 points back instead of five. But then the manager is trying a new formation and what you saw in that first half against Chelsea was the best away 45 mins to a rival we've put in in ages. We couldn't score though and we had to because we're not keeping a clean sheet away to them.

I'm baffled anyone could think in a game were we lost 2-0 never really threatened the opposition goal a game were Chelsea always looked comfortable as a good performance have our ambitions dropped so far?

Plus we haven't just drawn with Leicester and Everton we drew with a dire Spurs team and we shat ourselves against a City side we should have beaten on the day.

I tell you what, I thought Feb/March last year was depressing but this is worse.

Stuttering start to the season and an injury crises that should see us not challenging realistically for the title this season already.

Not good. Can only hope Walcott comes back strong but even he needs a chance to bed himself back into the team.

On Ozil injury it seems club actually asked German FA to check him.

"Ozil complained of a sore left knee after the game and the club advised the German FA to run medical checks when he joined up with his international squad." - Arsenal.com

Its not unusual, given the time the player has to join up with the squad of the Chelsea game, he was also sent to the same place we did the medical in when he joined

Nobody called it a good performance. After 40 mins we were all pretty satisfied with how it was going.

I'm not saying unusual, I just pointed out it was club who realised he wasn't well...anyway some update on Kos

"Koscielny is understood to have a minor Achilles problem, according to the Press Association.
However, fans of the Gunners should not fret too much with the club confident he will be fit for the Premier League clash at home to Hull a week on Saturday"

Our defensive signings can be summed up thus:
    Debuchy in for Sagna.
Chambers in for bother Vermaelen and Jenkinson.

That's not great business. Also I'm wondering what happens in the next match with both new signings out. Who'll be starting at RB and who'll be the CB cover on the bench?

I'd guess that Bellerin will start RB with Monreal on bench as cover for both LB and CB.

Anyone saying we don't need him. History with Arsenal, always always always repeats itself. Naming out players like Ox, Ramsey, Wilshere...what do they all have in common? I wouldn't even bet on all of them being fit for one game ever. Arteta is pushing on, rosicky is gonna be a cup and impact player. We signed Kim Kallstrom half way through season with the excact same midfield. We could have done with him, if that isn't clear now, I gurantee it will be at some stage proably when chelsea are beating us 6 0

That is a quote I had, I'm not parading it around delighted with myself and I won't show the full thing as I also predicted Cesc to struggle at Chelsea. What I am sure about is the absolute stubroness and incompetence of Wenger. Not getting Cesc and letting good players go have cost us so so much. It is a disgrace.

History keeps on repeating itself, I was delighted with the FA cup, I had a great time at Wembley but it was inevitable we would win something in 9 years with the squad we had, it is shameful we didn't build on that.

I am so pissed off at Wenger, he has kitted out our direct rivals for 4 or 5 years now.

Why ban it, its the stupidest call in history not brining him back, IF we could have. I believe we could have.

Someone like him coming back when players are always leaving is huge, it shows a lot. Now he is being outstanding for a direct rival. We are just fans, this is an Arsenal issue. All this SH!T about, 'talk about the players we have' Fcuk that, we haven't got enough to even talk about.

The club has consistenty failed, it is early October and we have made a disgrace of ourselves by not bringing back a former Club Captain because we have other players. It is because he is too stubron, that is why he lets them all go. He has an ego that is too big and proud. I am pissed off and an Arsenal fan and I'll come in here talking about Cesc all I want.

You are making a huge assumption there, Cesc wanted out of Arsenal, went of strike to leave and tbh I doubt very much he wanted to come back, its more than likely Chelsea was his destination no matter what we did.

I think Wenger has failed massively. Santi was pissed off that he was taken off and Ozil was still on the other day, I'm sure of it. Wenger has lost the marbles with pure out and out ego blocking the way. I've pumped money, time and effort into that club and sure, I am prob a bit emotional about Cesc as he was a huge hero to me but I just think it was such a no brainer for all parties and will cost us dearly. He had passion and flare for Arsenal, was a great captain and leader. I won't say anymore on the issue but I think it is a huge failing and I am disgusted with the mistakes the club have made at a time when things were so positive. History always, always repeats itself with Arsenal.

Cesc wanted out of Arsenal, like I would want to play for Arsenal if I was playing for Valencia and had the chance to be with my family, speaking my language and culture. I will stand by my huge assumption. He loved playing for Arsenal, loves Arsenal and wanted to come back. I may have rose tinted glasses but I am a cynical man and I truly believe that Wenger turned him down.

Cesc leaving us was the equivalent of your missis ****ing off with a more attractive bloke and after awhile when the bloke got sick of her and wasn't treating her the same she wanted to come back to you. **** him I would rather see Steve Morrow come out of retirement and fill in midfield than of taking him back.

Well I haven't been on here for a month, because every time I mentioned how it would be the ruination of us this season I was basically told I wasn't following the team correctly, as if there is a correct way to follow the team, aside from the fact I was at Stamford Bridge on Sunday. Basically told we can only talk about what we have and have positive conversations about the likes of Giroud and Ozil. I want them all to do well so badly but my opinion is that the club have failed massively and will continue to do so.

I'll let it go and fcuk off again.

I also support the new thread idea.

He would have been a luxury, even with all of our injuries we've still got Wilshere, Santi, Ox and Rosicky who play the same positions as him. I know he's better than them, but we absolutely needed to sign a DM before him, and not doing that is a much bigger issue.
