Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

To be fair to Chesney he has plenty of potential. But if I am being honest hes not even in the top 5 goalkeepers in the league imo. Far too many lapses of concentration for my liking.

Who is ahead of him in the top 4?

De Gea, Hart, Begovic, Lloris, Courtoius. Utd and Chelsea have better back up keepers than our current number 1. I think Ospina has the potential to be top class, he is pretty young himself.

    Forster is also better

I'd have him ahead of Begovic and LLoris, and on a par (at least) with Hart. I also think De Gea is going through a purple patch so it massively over rated recently.

Lloris is operating on another level. Begovic is a notch down but still slightly better than Chesney imo.

Agree with that. He was a terrific signing. How much did he cost btw?

    Joe Hart? Jesus Wept

Am I the only one that thinks Lloris is overated? He's shown that he is well capable of fcuk ups too. Ches may be rash at times but is far from our biggest problem imo

You have to also take into account that Szez is only 24. Thats still extremely young for a GK.

Much much better keeper. He had a dip in form, but when he is on his game hes up there with the best. His performance against Madrid (?) a few seasons back wan one of the best I ever seen. Great decision maker.

At a guess I'd say he makes triple the amount of mistakes Woj does.

Ospina is only 26. I think he deserves a shot as our number 1.

Our biggest problem is having too many average and soft players in the squad. Imagine where we would be lying in the table with out Sanchez in the team.

I will never forget the days that our cry for a DM was a cry for a GK. The days of Almunia and Fabianski. I praise the lord above that we have one of the brightest GK talents in Europe if not the world behind the sticks.

Szczesny is fine. Unfortunately that's the issue with a lot of the squad, there's no big weak-spot without being accused of scape-goating.

    Fierce quiet in here.
    Did we sign anyone yet?

I'd rather start him against Stoke than Man City.

Let him get some match fitness back.

Stoke at home should be a grand match to bring Ozil back, perfect even, we've beaten them 12 times in a row at home.

And so the legend was born.
Meanwhile, Spurs are behind, 2-1 to Crystal Palace after Kane scored the first. Yeooww.

and a draw on Monday night would suit us just fine.

With Spurs losing, West Ham drawing and Utd playing Southampton, we really need to capitalise tomorrow.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,065 ✭✭✭MaxPower89

Don't like looking too far ahead but if Kos playing tomorrow means he won't play against City then I would prefer to see him on the bench.

Ozil to start and gain some sharpness for the City game, with Walcott coming on in the 2nd half. Don't think he looked sharp at all v Hull, despite nearly scoring a few times.

    Something like:

    Chez
    Chambers Debuchy Mert Gibbs
    Ox Coq Rosicky Santi
    Ozil
    Giroud

    Start Walcott Alexis Ozil Giroud.

We have already lost the middle of the park so we need a forward line that can win the game.

Caz, Ox, Rosicky not much use in this one I fear.

    Cazorla will start

Lost the middle of the park at home to Stoke? It'll be the opposite surely.

Cazorla has to start, our best player right now bar Sanchez.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,342 ✭✭✭Bobby Baccala

Between ozil and cazorla we should dominate midfield

I hope to be hoping for a draw in the late match tomorrow. There's a chance I won't care by then.

Lost the middle of the park at home to Stoke? It'll be the opposite surely.

Cazorla has to start, our best player right now bar Sanchez.

Wanyama and Davis destroyed us vrs Saints by pure physicality alone.

Despite what we'd like to believe Coq is championship level and anyone we partner him with in CMF isn't up to it in that position.

I'd go Coq - Ox in the middle myself but I don't expect them to win the battle vrs Nzonzi and Whealen.

Benching Cazorla isn't necessarily what I had in mind.

I imagine Wenger will start one of Ozil/Walcott and one of Ox/Rosicky with the others used as subs.

I guess what I'm saying is I can't see us dominating posession with a weak centre and if we don't dominate posession, the usefulness of some players goes down whereas people like Walcott and Sanchez are really valuable.

Something I just thought of, will someone be given the number 9, as Podolski left.
