Trim Industrial School

Where was Trim Industrial School? It seems to have been closed at some stage before 1920, because a group of Auxiliaries was based in the former school then. A convent school called Scoil Mhuire was supposedly built on the site, and describes itself as in Patrick Street, but Google Maps doesn't identify any Patrick Street in Trim.

Actually this site seems to suggest it was where St. Josephs hospital now stands, which is indeed on Patrick St.:

Ah, thank you! Between the New Dublin Road and Patrick Street.

No sign of the school on Back Road or Patrick Street

I'm curious about who ran the place. It's described as run by "a board of management", but nuns are also mentioned in the girls' part; what about the boys' part - was it priests or brothers?

The local historical or heritage society should be able to point you in the right direction. Noel French would be a great start - he will probably have the answers himself, and if he doesn't he'll know who will. Google will get his contact details.

There are some photos of the old Gaol knocking about. The very big wall that's behind the Garda station is all that remains, it stood on the site of Scoile Mhuire (secondary school). There was a murder there (inmates killed a teacher I think). St Josephs was the workhouse / poorhouse I think.
