Very similar situation to myself. In terms of my current 11:
    Guzan
    Duff Ivan Clyne
    Siggy Di Maria Sterling Fab
    Aguero Costa Welbeck

Was v tempted by a Fab+Duff to Mane+Baines this week for a -4, but alas am .2 short

bench is: Gilks, King, Moore, Wisdom

Are you gonna go with Chadli instead?

I plan to get Hazard in a few weeks. Mane is a punt for a few weeks, I think he's looked decent so far and think he's more of a goal threat than Fab and can match his points over the next month. It's a bit of a risk but I was always planning on getting Hazard in for Fabregas at some stage anyway.

I think Mane is a good shout, admittedly a bit risky

He's only played 2 games and hasn't done much FF wise.

Maybe he'll get the odd assist and gaol, still think they're better out there for his price.

Has anyone considered changing their Midfield Bench Fodder to a Striker Bench Fodder.

For example currently Boyd is £4.4m, Ashley Barnes is also £4.4m and is starting to get decent game time.

This would leave the door open to transfer Welbeck (currently have Costa & Aguero too) to Chadli freeing up some extra cash for the defence

Any thoughts on Midfield Bench Fodder over Striker Bench Fodder?

Welbeck is the best and cheapest way into Arsenal's upcoming great fixtures. If he starts firing, his value will skyrocket as well. But I inherently prefer the 3-4-3 formation

I might bottle it now and keep Cesc :o. Everton's starting back 4 against Villa could be
    Baines Jags Alcaraz Hibbert
which doesn't inspire me with too much confidence in a cleanie.

Think i'm just gonna hold fire for now. Bank the transfer and re-assess after next gw. There's so many things to consider in midfield especially, like you said Chadli, also Fab v Hazard, Ramsey when he returns, Walcott... The extra F/T may come in handy depending on how things go. And it's not like any of the mids i currently have are underperforming anyway (and its not often you can say that!)

Very attacking midfielder (almost an inside forward if you're a FM player) playing for a good Southampton side at 6.9 with preferable fixtures

He also has a great goalscoring record (albeit in the Austrian league and Europa league)

He has a very decent scoring record. However, Tadic is on penalties and is also a good option.

Mane has superb fixtures over the next 5 and could be a massive differential.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,766 ✭✭✭RossieMan

Wheres all this Mane stuff coming from?

Is he even a nailed on starter?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,824 ✭✭✭LostArt

As it happens I was at Spurs v Soton at the weekend, on another day Mane could have scored and assisted a couple. What would worry me is that despite taking up some great positions he wasted them all and he won't come up against a centre half playing right back (Dier) every week.

Barnes is 4th or 5th choice striker at Burnley. He is getting more gametime due to the ings injury and midfield injuries. Ings could be back next game and if so it will be ings and jutk. Vokes when fit will leapfrog Barnes also. I prefer the mid option as it's cheaper for the striker option it's .5 dearer as jutkiewcz is the option there.

Inherently I'm a 3-4-3 man but there are more options for high scores in midfield this season at the min!

I agree tho with Arsenal fixtures & Welbs. I'm going to stick.

Have 2 free transfers & Can't figure out what to do!

Sakho and Skrtel playing together. I'm not sure how that'll go. Liverpool badly need Sturridge back. Their defence wasn't good last season but they had the firepower up front to counteract that.

How long are Lovren and Sakho out for? Kolo Toure is an absolute mess of a player these days. Liverpool defense had actually looked semi-decent in last 2 PLgames - clean sheets denied by a peno that never was, and a last minute worldy by Jagielka

afaik Sakho out for QPR but back shortly after

Not IMO. Hazard will come good eventually. He tailed off towards the end of last season, had a poor World Cup and isn't setting the world alight but he's a world class player IMO and will bounce back.

I'm keeping Fabregas myself but most people expect his returns to tail off given how deep he has been playing.

Hes got that Pirlo quarterback type role nailed on. The quality of his passing is second to only 1

Ill either be making the move fab to hazard or going with both of them. Hazard being on pens gives him an approx 25 pt head start on fab. Having said that I expect fab to be comfortably in the top 4 mids by year end. The price difference for those that have fab since the start has gone from 1 million to .6. My problem is my 3rd spot for a Chelsea player is it Azpilicueta or fab.

Hazard looked AWESOME at the weekend (on MOTD at least). Very tempted to go get him in instead of Fab in the next few weeks.

anyone see how alderwield played for southampton the last day? still only 5ml so cheapest of the back 4 and would allow me to keep cash to upgrade PVA to another 5 ml defender the following week

I got him in thinking he'd be a differential Soton defender. Only thing that differentiates him so far from Clyne/Bertrand is his lack of Goals and Assists.

if he got me 2 clean sheets in the next 4 I'd take it! he will be moved on again towards end of month. his main appeal is the extra money allows me to upgrade PVA to a spurs defender next week.
Its one of MANY options I'm looking at :D

I've seen him play a lot in the past and he's got a great shot on him so might be good for a goal or two, but his stats v Fonte aren't great, I'd pick Fonte ahead of him

Barring injuries I might carry a transfer this week for the first time this season. 8 attacking players in midfield and up front so playing 3-5-2 for a week or 2 until I decide what midfielder to drop to upgrade a strikers. Siggy, Di Maria, Silva, Sterling & Fab in Midfield

This doesn't bode well for Sterling's future playing time:

    http://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/oct/12/raheem-sterling-tired-roy-hodgson-england-estonia
Roy Hodgson was forced to defend Raheem Sterling after admitting that the Liverpool player had been left out of England’s starting line-up for their 1-0 win in Estonia because he was “a little tired” despite playing only 45 minutes in the previous game against San Marino.

Having watched most of Liverpools games this season I'd have to agree that he's looked tired in the last few weeks. He was awful against Basel and Middlesborough, he kept getting dispossesed and overpowered too easily. He was better in his last game against WBA but no way near his early season form.

I'm gonna keep him for now though cos he has good fixtures and Sturridge is close to a return which will help his cause. His best performance came when he played behind Sturridge away to Spurs.

Decided to jump off the Sterling bandwagon. He was very poor recently.
    Have jumped to Di Maria.

Have 2 ft an am looking at dumping Sterling because gametime could be affected.
    Current team:
    Krul, Mannone

    PVA, Moore, Wilson, Duff, Bertrand

Fabregas, Di Maria, Sterling, Siggy, Diame

    Costa, Welbeck, Aguero
    Option 1:
    Sterling - Hazard
    Diame - Boyd
    No hit

    Option 2:
    Sterling - Henderson
    Diame - Chadli
    Duff - Azpilicueta
    -4pt hit

    Please help me:)

Aguero will not be rotated, especially with City already chasing Chelsea.

he'll be played until he breaks IMO.

Option 1 is highly Chelski dependent.
Option 2 makes no sense to me. With Costa, Welbeck, Aguero upfront, why would you take a 4 point hit to bring in a midfielder who will be on your bench.
Why not go with Option 2 less the Chadli add?

Whatever about form, surely fatigue can't be an issue for Sterling by the time the weekend rolls around? He only played 25mins or so yesterday. Surely he's more likely to play now that he played less than a full game (71mins) over the 2 international games.

I am cautious about Sterling but he has 5 days to rest and I'll wait to hear from Rogers to speak on Friday.

CL games may come into play though. Liverpool only have 3 points from two games.

Sterling is facing into 3 games in seven days.

I'm also cautious about him, but it's form related. I don't really see how he could be fatigued, unless I'm missing something.

He's a number of players on my watch list that could be worth bringing in (Hazard, Silva, Tadic), and out of the template midfield 4 Sterling is the one at the minute that will make way. But not this week (unless there's something in the press conference on Friday).

Fair enough, but why would he be fatigued now?

because he's 19, and he's playing 3 times as much football as last year.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,255 ✭✭✭✭Lemlin

Fair enough, but why would he be fatigued now?

Could be a number of reasons. As the user above says, he's 19 and is playing more games than before.

My own opinion is that think Rodgers isn't too fond of losing players to international duty, particularly with England. Have a look at the following:

    http://liverpooloffside.sbnation.com/liverpool-news-coverage/2014/9/11/6135241/brendan-rodgers-blames-england-causing-sturridge-injury-training
The disappointment for us is Daniel Sturridge coming back injured as he had started the season very well," Rodgers said while speaking on TalkSport today. "We're obviously disappointed because we feel it was an injury which could have been prevented. He has worked so hard over pre-season and looked very fit and strong in our last game against Tottenham."

Sturridge has had something of a history of getting himself injured while on international duty, and it's hard not to think at times that it's as much what he's being asked to do by the England coaches as anything to do with the player himself. And Rodgers has now confirmed as much, placing the blame entirely on England for their mishandling of the player's fitness.

Rodgers also said that England didn't need Sturridge for these two games and, in the past, when Sturridge was even mentioned for an England call-up, Rodgers said he needed to worry about playing regularly before he worried about playing for England.

I think Sterling may well have been under strict instructions from his manager not to play in both games for an extended period. I can't see Rodgers having a different attitude for Sterling on international duty than he has for Sturridge.
