Strong winds Sunday evening/night, Oct 5/6th

The latest run of the GFS is out, and is showing a period of strong southerly winds crossing the country Sunday evening and overnight into the early hours of Monday. The model is showing inland gusts up to around 90 km/h widely with 100-110 km/h gusts in places. These are not particularly strong winds for coastal regions,…

Yep rescue 115 en route to Dingle bay but is currently doing an ILS approach into Kerry to try and get down under the cloud and get visual with the ground. certainly not a nice night for them.

I'm looking out the window now and the branches on the trees are hardly moving its so calm. I don't think I've ever seen a southerly gale in my parts because of the mountains to the south.

Strongest gust so far is 94 km/h at Sherkin, pretty much in line with the models, maybe a bit on the weaker side though I think it'll get a little stronger overall as it moves further east through the night.
